Summary: Seriously, toning it down isn't that easy when it comes to Deryn Sharp.
It's almost summer and the sun is framing Deryn's head, colouring her hair golden. She's wearing his nightshirt and Alek is quite sure she knows he's long stopped reading the newspaper.
He clears his throat.
"Your hair has grown - Are you planning on letting it long?"
She rises her eyebrows, running a hand through her hair, long enough now to cover her ears.
"Yeah, it's grown a wee bit, I guess I should cut it again."
"I like it this way."
Her smirk is wide enough to qualify as a smile. "You like it any way", she says.
