Wow...it makes you want to stop writing, doesn't it?

Up until now I'd had absolutely no clue what was going on with the whole Cassandra Claire thing. I'd read the second and third parts of her trilogy (because I didn't want to read any of the D/Hr that's in the first part), and was waiting for the last few parts of the story to come out. I'd caught onto her much later than a lot of people - only last year, I think - and so I didn't understand why she'd stopped posting all of a sudden.

When I saw about three or four weeks ago that people were saying there was "controversy" concerning her, I just thought that it meant people were upset that she'd stopped posting or something.

I had no idea that she was such an utter fraud. And I'm stunned. I knew, obviously, that she'd used loads of quotations and quotes from tv shows - and sometimes it did get to be a bit much, because I wanted to see what she herself could write like. I had no idea that she was stealing whole scenes from all kinds of books and not crediting. Screw not crediting, actually - I'd no idea she'd done something like that at all.

It just makes me a little sick, actually, and makes me more than a little sick and disappointed with fandom, all of a sudden. One person just wanted to do the RIGHT thing,  (http://www.journalfen.net/community/bad_penny/8985.html#cutid1) and tell the truth, and an astonishing amount of people stood up on CC's side and accepted that her theft was okay and encouraged her to keep going.

What the hell is wrong with people?

ETA: I have to go to bed soon, but the more I read of this (see link above), the more disgusted I get. I don't even know what to think about this. It's actually insane! It makes me want to retreat from fandom forever - and though I've felt that before, it just seems like there's a plausible reason now.
