Last night, I finished the first run-through of this PSP game. Maybe. After the credits roll, it seems that there's an extension to the game and that's where I am now. I'm still getting new items, so I'll see if this extended area is worth it or not. Overall, it's a decent game. There's some really amusing takes on what the French and English are like, as well as the addition of elves, dwarves and animal-people (Therions).
I must say that the game was rather well-paced. There were very few times when I felt that I had gotten ahead of myself and needed to go find open battlefields just to level my characters. The level grind really never hit in this game, which is very nice. The moment you had a objective, the characters were generally at just the right level to work on it. The free-battle areas, however, were another story. Those could open up well before the characters were ready. (I did find that if I leveled up for those, I'd be racing through the story battles a little too easily.)
It's a lot easier than the few battles that I played in FF Tactics, though it is does play a lot like it and has very similar ideas for how weapons work. (The guys that can use polearms, for instance, can get a "Jump"-like ability and some other options that really mirrored "Dragoon" a lot.)
Still, it's a fairly decent game with a cute story behind the character interactions.
