I'm not sure which of these three did the trick, but I would guess that it was a combination of them... First, some background. See, I've been slowly moving stuff in. Having a storage facility lease that was arranged as a one-year lease is an awesome thing. It is helping a lot since I don't see the unending stack of boxes to unpack all the time. However, I started to do what I term "hyper-focusing".
When hyper-focusing, I start to go over that poor dead horse until it is paste and my mind just cycles and cycles. It's like the hour-glass on a computer that just keeps turning, until you realize it needs to be rebooted. I started getting everything mixed up - what I need to do, what I need to buy, what I want, what chores I need to do... and I depressed myself with the overwhelming number of things. The other night, it was a case of going to bed to "get away" from things that were feeding into the cycle. Today, I managed to hit the reboot button with these three things:
- Putting in m-flo (Crazy J-Pop ftw.)
- Writing up a set of to-do lists and calendars that separate out house maint, chores, wants and needs.
- Sweeping and mopping up the main traffic areas.
I started to feel better with the lists, since it helped me organize what I was thinking about and make it seem less oppressive. In fact, getting the maint stuff out to where I could see it on my calendar helped too. Now that one of the bigger chores is done and I'm having a light dinner of whatever Kroger calls Cocoa Puffs, I'm feeling human again.
I think that means it's time to put in Diablo II. It's been taunting me today, begging me to start yet another character.
