Finally got a chance to get the camera on the newest blanket, in time to grab more stuff that was done.
Second blanketSecond blanket, stitching close-up This blanket is a modified form of the last one. This time, I made it thinner and gave it a several row border to highlight the colors. The yarn is Lion Brand Homespun in Plantation (the green color) and Creole (the grey and mauve colors).
Washclothes!
PairSpring-time Crochet, detailBurgundy Knit, detailBoth were done with Lily's Sugar'n'Cream cotton yarn. Mmm. Cotton. I think I like cotton yarns best, though I haven't tried out the small amount of alpaca yarn that a sister sent me.
The knit one took about a week for me to do, so roughly about 10 hours. I'm not real happy with this amount time, but it probably only highlights that I've not been knitting too terribly long.
cptwinky likes the banding that I did to give it some texture. I like it, but not at the amount of time that it took.
The crochet one, however, was done during an all-hands meeting at work, mostly. One and a half rows were done afterwards while talking to folks, just so I could finish it out. Total time - about 2 hours. Of course, I've been crocheting off and on since I was about 12, so I have had a lot more practice at it to just whip things out. The pattern is more open, but I don't think the pattern mattered as much as my hands being far more used to just doing what needed to be done.
I've got a pattern for a wash mitt that I may do as a break between blankets 3 and 4. After the December holidays, though, the interesting projects start.
cptwinky picked out a neat pattern for a blanket that he wants, made from Lion Brand Suede (which isn't real suede, though I think that would be really fun!), and a yarn that he wants socks made from. I haven't done socks yet. The only wearables that I've made so far have been scarves, hats, and a beach cover-up that I made when I was in high school.
