Well, just to update things a bit, since it's been a while... Work's gone goofy in the past month. I was being grumpy about the whole thing and forcing my days to go no longer than 8.5 hours. That changed today, which came in at 9.5. Was trying to get a lot done before things get out of control later this week. I think I'm in a good spot for it to not take over any more time than it needs to take up. This is a Good Thing because I have too many home projects to get done in the next couple months.
I just finished a hat (knit) for my sister this weekend. Spiff! I plan to wash that (and the lap-blanket that I finished this summer) in the next day or two and then take pictures. Then I'll send the hat along with a mystery book as a gift.
cptwinky liked the light cotton hat so much that now he wants one. :)
Tonight, I started on the second lap-blanket (crochet) gift. In a way, I don't like doing it. It's acrylic yarn, which I always used to like working with. After a run with cotton, I don't really want to do acrylic much anymore. I also need to finish the Harry Potter scarf (knit) for a late December gift, if I can manage it. Since my friend's son knows that I'm working on it for him, it's not as much of a holiday rush as other things.
I've also been told of a way to make yarn-money for my hobby. I have friends in the Civil War Re-enactment stuff. They know folks that will buy items on cosignment to sell at the re-enactments, if it is period styling - right colors, right fabrics, etc. I'm thinking of creating a few things after the holiday run and see if I can sell some items and what they go for. I'll probably start with little items like handbags. If it looks like it does decently well, maybe I can do a "on commission" bit for larger items. One of the friends already has a blanket that I made for her daughter, but it's not my best work and she picked out some of the cheaper yarns out there - so it was going to be hard to make it pretty, anyway.
Oh, well. Enough babbling. Time to go play Final Fantasy.
