Fic: On The Ice [The Magic School Bus]

Nov 12, 2010 22:31

Okay, so I could make a post about what a lovely day I had yesterday and how today was nice too, but I need the pictures I took to tell that properly and my camera is upstairs and I have eaten my own body weight in rice vermicelli and lemongrass beef and all manner of delicious Vietnamese foods, so I'm not inclined towards moving right now. So my ( Read more... )

This is like ten million different kinds of awesome. I just thought you should know that.

Also, Arnold will out-live them ALL. :D

Thankyou so much!

I get the feeling that Arnold will grow up and become a janitor or small-town police officer, and nothing will phase him ever. Except he doesn't get on school buses at all.

My inner child is kind of broken and weeping right now. I hadn't thought about Magic School Bus in years, but I loved it when I was a kid...too young to know what an eldritch horror was. And now I'm thinking that The Friz is a cousin of Yog-Sothoth.

It's not often that I've read a fic that makes me look at a canon in an entirely new and different light, so thanks for that. I think. XD

Really though, that was excellent.

Thankyou, sorry about the childhood. At least you're not the only one? sharp_teeth is good for childhood-destroying fics, actually, there are ones for Winnie the Pooh and The Secret Garden and The Velveteen Rabbit and many more. In case you were morbidly curious.

Morbidly curious is my middle name! XD I've had to go through reading them now, and this is definitely one of my favorites. Gives a chill, and not just from reading about the ice.

I was doing all right until someone linked to an apocalypse Winnie The Pooh fic called And Is There Honey Still For Tea? and ow dammit author that was my heart you just broke.

I think the tundra would be the scariest place to go on a field trip, because other places are full of things that could kill you, but the ice is just so empty. So you could be eaten by a bear/drown/die of hypothermia, but you could also just disappear and never be found again. I find that scarier than monsters.

This was a great story, Theres a similar story where the Frizz worked for Miskatonic teaching kids to keep science in mind when faced with mind bending horrors and unnatural geography, but that had a dumb crossover.

I never watched "Magic School Bus", but know enough to get this is a fine bit of genre-bending. Taken out of context, Miss Frizzle and her schoolbus can be all kinds of horrifying.

This is amazing. I went and watched the opening theme again and found it absolutely horrifying.
