The Wedding Scoop

OK, so I'm sure any friends of mine who still read this journal are wondering what the deal is with the wedding- when and where it will be, what style, etc. The short answer is that it's going to be later than we thought originally- we've both realized we need some time to get our lives a bit more in order before we can go through with all this. We were thinking Fall of 08, but now Spring of 09 is looking more likely...
We have started taking some planning steps, however and have some stuff figured out.

Guests: We made an invite list- and went through it with both our families to figure out who would be likely to come- there is the number we're inviting, and the number that are expected- there's a pretty significant difference between the two.
What makes things complicated is Dan has a rather large extended family- his mother Sharon is one of 11 siblings, and they have their spouses and children and grandchildren! So that adds up to around 50-some people just with the Nolte side. My family would around 20-some people and then there's around probably 30 friends we'd both want to invite (fortunately we have mostly the same friends)
Ceremony: We've agreed the ceremony will be at Dan's church- Bethany Lutheran on Franklin, Pastor Jay Wiesner officiating. Both of us are pretty close to Jay and we know him going back to when he was the advisor for QSU.
Dan has agreed to have a Pagan ceremony as well as a Christian one, though that will be smaller just including Pagani and open-minded folks. For now we're just trying to figure out the big one though. It has been suggested that we might try putting "stealth" Pagan elements in the wedding, and that's something to consider too. For now just trying to figure out the logistics of where, when etc. the ceremony itself we can work out later...
We're not worried about reserving the church, as it's a small congregation consisting mostly of older ladies and college students. So not a lot weddings there. More likely we'd have to compete with a funeral, but those don't exactly get planned out in advance as weddings. If one was I'd be kinda worried.

Reception: This is the trickier and potentially more expensive part. We could just have it in the church basement and cater there, but if we want something nicer we'd need to look elsewhere. We've made a list of potential places to have it and have called a few of them. This is a big part of why it's gotten put off- we realized how far in advance it have to be booked.

Wedding Party: I've already asked my cousin Kari and friends Lisa
amoraj and Alli (who's moved out to D.C.) to be my bridesmaids. Dan is going to ask his brother Joel to be his best man, probably my brother Dylan and I don't know who else to be groomsmen.

In short we want to have a nice, but affordable wedding, something that's our style but doesn't scare Dan's relatives either, LOL.
