Of fungus and tadpoles
I have the first of this 2 figure piece started, she will be a frog fairy. Both mushrooms and frogs to me symbolize the transformation of darkness into the light. The cute little cap and stem portion of a mushroom is just the fruiting body, the actual fungus is underneath buried in soil or rotting wood. Working silently, you would never really know it was there. Such beautiful things springing up from the decay. Frogs live for a time as tadpoles swimming around in water (long associated with emotions), as they become frogs they emerge onto land, just as the simmering of our unconscious bubbles up into new insights, realization, and healing. As for her friend, the other part of this duo, his story is coming along....
