Hmm.....ok, so nothing terribly interesting has happened to me since I wrote my first entry in February. Unless you count sitting at a desk reading textbooks all day interesting. As much as I enjoy what I'm studying, I doubt that talking about textbooks will get me very far! :p
Although, one interesting thing did happen- Australia hosted their Federal election yesterday. For the first time, both candidates, a former female Education Minister (made PM by default after the party kicked out the PM before his first term even ended) and a man very partial towards speedos, both inexperienced in running for the top job, were competing against each other. Politics in Australia is usually sooo incredibly boring! >_< Nothing like the glam and high-rise emotions so commonly found during election time in the U.S. For the first time, I was captivated- the slanging matches, the lies, the cover-ups, and many, many tears.
However, even more important (well, to me anyway) than government policy, I learned how severely political preferences can divide even the closest of friends. I had forgotten how angry people can become when you mention 'Liberal,' 'Labour,' or 'The Greens,' or any other party. To the point where even people respond to others' views on social-networking sites with "intelligent" insults, like, '**** your mum." Not only is this stupid, it shows a complete lack of maturity and respect for others. While in previous years, I would care more about who won, now I don't really care who becomes PM. I just want the final results to be called so that everyone can celebrate or drown their sorrows (depending on whether their preferred candidate won or not) for one night and the next day, let everything go back to normal!
On a random note: Yay~~~!! Hanamizuki started airing in cinemas (in Japan) yesterday!!! :D Toma-san to Yui-san, ganbarou~! Ahhh....must. save. more. money. for. trip. to. Japan!!!!!!!! Thank goodness I've found a good job with my Uni Faculty!!
