wow my last semester at emory and i think this should be the most fun set of classes i've had yet:

BIOLOGY 455: Immunology
Antia, TTh, 10:00-11:15, MAX: 30, 1462 Clifton Road, Room 126

Content: Examination of the fundamental concepts of immunology and disease from the viewpoint of population. The course will cover the basic principles of immunology and will use this knowedge to better understand infectious diseases. A traditional format of lectures will cover the basic concepts of immunology and will be supplemented by presentation of articles from the literature and discussions.

Particulars: 2 examinations, quizzes, and problem sets. Prerequisites: Biology 141, 142, and 143.

IBS 591: Population Biology and Evolution of Disease
Antia, TTh, 2:30-4:00, MAX: 16, 1462 Clifton Road, Room 126

Content: The immune response, infectious diseases, and cancers will be treated as population dynamical and evolutionary phenomena. Primary consideration will be given to four topics: (1) the within-host population dynamics of microparasites (viruses, bacteria, and protozoa) and the immune defenses, (2) the population biology of infectious disease transmission and its control by vaccination and chemotherapy, (3) theories of the evolution of parasite viruience, (4) the somatic cell population biology and evolution of neoplasms and their metastasis.

Particulars: The course will include lectures, discussion, and oral reports by students. Each student will be responsible for at least one report that will be presented both orally and in writing. Grades will be based on the quality of these reports and the magnitude and enthusiasm of participation in discussions. Prerequisites: Biology 141, 142, and 143, college level mathematics and calculus, and an intense interest in this subject.

FILM 270: Introduction to Film
Lieberman, TTh 1-2:15, MAX: 50
Mandatory film screening M 6-8pm

Content: This course teaches students the critical skills involved in the interpretation of films. During the first half of the semester, we will learn the basic techniques of film form and style. For the remainder of the course, we will discuss these techniques as they relate to issues of critical analysis (cultural criticism, genre, ideology) in both Hollywood narrative cinema and non-Hollywood/alternative cinemas.

Film!!!! it's not eddie but evan's supposed to be cool too.

ARTHIST 108: Ceramics I
Kempler, M 2:00 - 5:00 PM MAX: 12

Content: This class will explore ceramics as a medium of creative expression. Basic methods of hand building will be taught, creating work of a personal and exploratory nature.

Particulars: No prerequisite. Grades will be based on weekly projects and on a substantial final project using various techniques. A minimum of four hours of studio work in addition to class time also required.

and ANT 495BWR: Honors Research II makes 20 credits.
mum wants me to take a business-type class but i really would rather not... plus there really isn't a course which teaches you what to do with money or taxes or investing or stuff like that, they're all economics-type things (blech) or financial markets (urgh).
i propose a course, "Money: What To Do With It When You Make It".

no classes on wednesday and friday! but i do have to go to work.
monday classes start at 2:00pm! but go on until 8:00pm.

should be a lot of fun.
