Allow me to relate to you all my tale of woe and despair. Five days ago (holy crap, was it really only five?), I went and got my wisdom teeth removed as scheduled. Things went along as planned until later on that afternoon when I started having a horrible reaction to the anesthesia and pain meds (apparently I, unlike Dr House, will never be able to pop Vicodin). I ended up going to the ER two nights in a row because I couldn’t stop vomiting. Basically it was a hellish weekend. Once I got the drugs out of my system I started to feel better, but it took far too long and there was lots of unpleasantness before it happened.
To top things off the oral surgeon turned out to be kind of a jerk. When my mom called him to let him know what was going on, his advice was to take four Advil and let it run its course. Right, four Advil on an empty stomach when I already couldn’t stop retching, sure thing, Doc.
I went in for my follow up appointment today and, hopefully, if I brush six times a day until I’m bleeding I should be close to normal by Friday. If I’m not then I have to go in again. I also have a big lump in my right cheek that he says is a blood clot. Apparently it happens to a lot of people and I have to keep rubbing it to break it up and then the swelling should go down.
Uhg. This has, quite possibly, been the worst week ever. So far I’ve missed three days of work, and two rehearsals for the musical I’m in. The show is next week and because I missed one of the choreography practices I won’t get to be in one of my favorite numbers. But I will get by. As long as nothing gets infected and I’m well on my way to recovery by Friday I will be really happy. Cross your fingers for me.
