good news/no news...

my good news...this made me cry for half an hour, i was so relieved...the fremont hospital dismissed a big chunk of my bill..to the tune of $8,570.99. i think i still owe other services around $3,000-$5,000, so far. i'm waiting to see what will happen with all the omaha charges-which i havent gotten yet.
the same charity that is paying for the wound vac and my nurses visits is also now offering to pay my rent and utilities for the month of october...thank goodness.

now for the "no news", i still have no real target date for getting off the wound vac and getting back to work. i MIGHT get off the machine in 1-2 weeks, but oddly this depends on my nurses say-so, not dr.clovens. dr.cloven said my wound was making good progress, and if necessary, i could get off the machine and start packing my wound with gauze myself, to go back to work, but shes reluctant to take me off the machine when i'm doing so well on it. my wound has gotten smaller and the skin is granulating as it should. however when ive recently brought the issue up about getting off the machine and going back to work, my nurses have been iffy about giving me a target date. so ive decided to give the machine two weeks and then i'm pushing to get off it and back to work. i want to be scheduled by november for sure, possibly i might get scheduled for one weeks worth of work still in october. either way, that means my first check will basically only be half my normal pay.
yesterday, i was supposed to have a pelvic exam, but really, i was just asked if i had any bleeding or discharge-which i havent, and that that was the extent of my pelvic exam, so happily, no probing for me. the doctor said i dont need any further post-op exams from her and that the next time i need to see her will be 3 months from now, to get a pap-smear to make sure i'm still cancer-free. so, woo-hoo, holiday pap-smear! oyyy... the doctor also said i could make an appointment with her should any issues come up about my wound. so, no more doctor, and no real answer from the doctor or nurses on anything...i feel rather like i'm on my own here. btw...the doctor and intern, had no clue on how to remove my wound-vac dressing or the containment cannister, i showed them how. i am currently packed with the cloth tape again, and am awaiting my nurse so i will be hooked back up to the machine.
