Well, I finally made it back home. Actually, I made it back yesterday, but I was so tired from the trip that I spent most of the rest of the day sleeping. I am REALLY unhappy with Delta right now. On the way down to Arizona we missed our Salt Lake City connection due to mechanical problems on our first jet. In fact, we missed the last flight to Tuscon for the day by five minutes. Ass that was the second time in just under six years that this happened to me on a delta flight, I wasn't very happy. But I could live with it.
Then, on the way back on Friday I missed my connecting flight again. And this time they couldn't use mechanical problems as an excuse. While we did leave Tuscon late, we still managed to make it to Salt lake City on time. I should have had 20 minutes to get to my connecting flight. Considering it was literally on the other side of the airport, it would have been difficult to make since running could literally kill me (one of these days I'll remember to take my inhaler with me on a trip), but it was definitely possible. The only problem was that we had to sit on the tarmac for thirty minutes because they couldn't find a place to put us. We arrived when we were supposed to and they still didn't have a gate for us.
By the time I got off the plane I had once again missed the last flight to my destination of the night. So once again I got put in a hotel. Granted it was a really really nice hotel, but I didn't really get to enjoy it since I got there late (too late to get food anywhere) and had to leave by eight the next morning. And that wasn't all the problems with the trip either. It turned out they didn't actually have any openings on the flights the next day until 9:00PM, so I had to be on standby. And I also had to go through the whole nightmare of rechecking all my bags, which ended up taking even longer than it should have because the bag check people didn't seem to know what the hell they were doing.
In the end I did luck out and get on the first flight for Spokane (there are definate advantages to being alone), and I even got seated next to a cute girl. Unfortunately we were both so tired that we fell asleep before the plane even took off, so no luck there. And anyway, I'm not entirely sure how old she was so that may have been for the best.
Anyway, these flights have taught me two things. One, I really hate small planes. Not only do they get affected too much by wind on the runway, I also fell like I have to crawl down the aisle to avoid bashing my head on the ceiling. And two, I will never ever fly Delta again. I don't care how cheap they are. If i can't afford to fly on a different airline then I simply won't go on a trip.
