When I was young I wanted so badly to look like Buddy Holly that I wore horn rimmed glasses even though I didn't need them. Soon the damn things had made me so nearsighted that I needed glasses! I didn't care... I just wanted to make music like that, music with feeling and rhythm, so different from the melodies that my Mum and Dad listened to. They were not amused that their only child had ruined his eyesight in order to imitate an American pop idol. Mum still complains about it. I just laugh and tell her that my glasses became my trademark and helped me make millions.
Not that I truly think that my glasses made me famous. The other night, Bernie and I received several Million Aire awards. These are given to songs that have been played on radio a million times or more. "Daniel" has been played more than 5 million times.
No, it wasn't my glasses that made me famous.
Thank you, Bernie.
