bringing ohio to california. the shit begins
so two of my friends from oberlin are auditioning for grad school at USC. both are really close friends of mine. the first, scott, is a trombone player. he is the person i am most comfortable with playing in an orchestral section with. he gets in tonight, and i'm taking him to In n Out for the first time in his life....and shelly's coming with to witness this feat.
the other dude is mike. i stayed with him this summer, and he lives in La Canada. we've been through a lot. he played trumpet in my band in oberlin. he's a solid trumpet player, and he got accepted to USC as an undergrad. the cool thing about knowing my teacher is that he's the dept. chair...and their auditions here are just "formalities". so i was wrong....it IS all about who you know sometimes. but in this case it's a good thing.
on a side note, i've developed a deep admiration for drowning_nereid. again this proves that i am blessed with having such amazing people directly influencing my life. i am thankful to everyone. and clare, you're fuckin awesome.
