Deathly Hallows afterthoughts

Jul 22, 2007 15:27

I lack sleep, am a heap of emotional wreck, and here are my thoughts.

The most important thing is that I loved the book, enjoyed it so much that I read it in one go even though I tried so hard to slow down and make the book last as long as possible. My eyes are red from weeping, not just from the various moments in the book but by the end of the ( Read more... )

Even though he probably wanted to see Lily’s eyes before he died

*weeps* I hadn't thought of it that way.

I like the epilogue too. I can see its sorta cheesiness, but I liked it anyway. Scorpius is a great name for pursuing a career in Mortal Kombat.

In conclusion, NEVILLE.

This book just increased my love for Snape a hundred fold.

Ohohoh, Neville totally rules. Attacking Death Eaters with plants? Seriously cool.

Yeah, Snape dying was a hard blow, but in terms of storyline it worked very well and I don't think it could have ended any other way. Don't get me wrong - I absolutely love Snape, but this doesn't get rid of the fact that he was nasty, petty, and downright unpleasant towards Harry, and given that Snape *was* ultimately the one who let slip the prophecy to LV and thus causing Lily and James' deaths, only by dying can him be redeemed. Therefore although I'm upset that Snape died, I think his death was neccessary and increases his value as a character.

I don't despise Tonks - I just don't care for her character very much, but I think she was a woman who was desperately in love with Remus and would have done anything to be with him. I love R/S and granted, I didn't like Remus marrying Tonks *at all*, but I do think it was time Remus got some happiness and companionship after all the suffering he went through.

I mean what the heck gives her the right to write this bloody line

...Urm, the right as the author of Harry Potter ( ... )

I know! I can't believe Hagrid wriggled his way out of death yet again. I like the guy, but I would gladly swap his death for one of the dead characters *cough*RemusSiriusSnape*cough* :P

I would guess that Victorie is the daughter of Bill and Fleur, since the name sounds French.

hmmm maybe... that is a good guess... I thought that that name was lame any way... Victorie, victory.... lol ur probably right... he did say "our" so maybe he was refering to the Weasleys...

Clearly Victoire, being a French variation of Victoria, is the daughter of Fleur and Viktor Krum. Fleur and Bill are way too cool to be monogamous.

I was really disappointed with the way JKR portrayed Lupin's character in this book. It seemed nothing like him for some reason.

I liked the epilogue too, despite the strange children's names and Draco's receding hairline...lol

I'm Lux btw. I kinda lurk around for the art but I really liked your review so I thought I'd comment :)

Yeah, there has been some fandom wank over the whole Remus-runs-out-on-his-family-therefore-he-is-a-git debate. I think the problem with Remus is that JKR seems not to know what to do with him, or that she just got tired of his character. With all the important plotlines going on, I don't think she had the time or space to fully develope the Remus and Tonks sidestory.

Haha, receding hairline was funny! I bet Draco hates it ;)
