Loud Goodbye for Hunter Thompson

Friends and relatives of Hunter S. Thompson are preparing to pepper the sky with his ashes, The Associated Press reported. Thompson's cremated remains will be shot into the air Aug. 20 from a cannon installed on a 150-foot-high tower behind his home in Woody Creek, Colo. Thompson, who had been in failing health, shot himself at his home on Feb. 20 after a long and flamboyant writing career. He was 67. Johnny Depp, a close friend of Thompson, has hired an events planner from Beverly Hills, Calif., to oversee the firing, which will be closed to the public. Anita Thompson, the writer's widow, said a public commemoration would be held later.

we picked up a 4-pack of the gonzo imperial porter a couple weeks ago; it was ok, a bit overpowering, but that was probly because it was...still...warm when we drank it. well no, if it's a porter, it should be ok warm, right? ahh. mmm flying dog. at Convention, we ran into a guy wearing a gonzo t-shirt, who told us he'd purchased several limited-edition bottles of the porter, in the hopes of winning a Golden Ticket with one of them - no, really.
no, i am not really posting about beer at 6.43 am. nah. but i did figure that there was no real reason for me to stay in bed, since i curled up at 8.45 last night. par-tay! might as well try to wear myself out.
