August 18th 2008 - Day 5 in Grenada

Aug 18, 2008 19:25

Today was a bit of an emotional day because I got pretty upset about now having my luggage. I got into a pretty bad mood but luckily it passed.

Jen brought Umair to school and then came back for Jason and I and off we went. First we went to the bank and Jen found out her debit card doesn’t work here which really sucks. After that we went looking for bathing suits but they were pretty expensive. We found one that I decided I would go back and buy for 26$ american which is 65 EC. After that we did grocery shopping because Jason and I planned on making supper. Finally we decided to head to the airport and see if our luggage came in. We had to go through security and then they let us in.

Our luggage finally arrived!!! YAY! I was and am so happy! Lol! We went in and collected our 8 bags of luggage and then we got stopped at customs. They guy started going through all our bags and finally stopped with only two left to go- Jason and mine’s which worked out great because I had the wii and he had the wii board and we for sure would have been taxed on them. Made us pretty happy. We loaded up the car and there wasn’t room for Jason and I and we had 1 more luggage so jen went and dropped it off and came back for us. When she returned we went to New York Bagel and had some fries. It was pretty good and pretty cheap. Jen says the bagels are really good so we’re going to go back and try them.

Finally we went and got Umair. We tricked him into thinking we only got 1 bag because that was all we had with us but when we got home we surprised him. Lol! We were planning on going to the beach but instead we were just so happy to our stuff we put all our stuff away and organized everything which took awhile.

For supper Jason and I made Peanut lemon chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and stir fry beans and onions. It was delicious! Also Umair made homemade guacamole which was so good. For dessert Jason made mango sorbet and it too was every delicious.

Finally we relaxed and watched TV. We decided to call it an early night because we’re all so tired. I think I already lost weight while being here from sweating so much. But I must say- It never felt so damn good to wear my own clothes.

As a side note- We saw a rooster walking around while we were driving down the hill to get to the main road. He was really cute. I also got some beautiful scenic shots as we were going down. It’s a beautiful view coming down the mountain.

And here’s how to figure out the money situation. So you get a price in EC say 65. You times by two which is 130 and then you divide by 5. Since I find it hard to divide big numbers by 5, I divide by 10 which is 13 and then times by 2 which is 26 which is actually approximate but it still works pretty well.

Alright well that’s all. Jason is falling asleep so I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is a definite beach day.
