Law is pervading my life, yay!
I was watching My Fair Lady and noted that when Eliza throws the slippers at Professor Higgins, it’s the tort of battery, but when she flings herself at him to pummel him afterwards, and he prevents her, that’s merely the tort of assault, since she didn’t actually make contact.
I also realized that in French, to say one is wrong, one literally says, “I have tort.” Which is what a tort is in law - a wrong one has committed against another. He he he. I’m so easily amused.
