Galactus's World-Ship

Mar 13, 2008 09:57

The enormous vessel has entered Earth's solar system - seemingly oblivious to all broadcast entreaties, it inexorably closes the distance to Earth. So insignificant to the ship's master are the beings of Earth that only the most perfunctory of the ship's defenses have been activated.

The first of Galactus's defenders are quick to arrive on the scene - while humans may be beneath his notice, his robotic guardians are programmed to intervene against any sort of intrusion - no matter how slight.

Forcefields appear to encompass the invaders, trapping them in with the newly-arrived thirty-foot metallic watchmen.

"Why do they bother making those things humanoid if they're all geldings? I'd be a hell of a lot more scared if thirty robots with meter long erections tried to penetrate the ship."

Sarah is the first out, and goes right into defensive mode, really wishing the team had more bricks to help spread out the beating a little. But she'll do her job, which starts with protecting the ship, their way out, and let everyone else get out and to cover.

"I'm not sure whether the appropriate quip is asking how you can think of sex at times like this, or to ask whether you'd be scared or if you meant you'd be looking forward to it more."

Raven snorts. "I don't want to play the egg in their attempt to inseminate the ship with lasers and bullets. Gotta give the idea credit, though. It'd sure as hell make great psychological warfare. Director Shaw never gets that in my proposals..."

Giant Space Robots in a Giant Space Ship that wants to eat Earth.

"People who live this stuff daily! How do you beat these things?!"

The damn breathing apparatus is going to hamper his effectiveness a bit... as is the lack of air for his pseudo-cape to catch for gliding... as is the lack of meaningful gravity - god, don't throw up in the mask.

Doom remains silent. Concentration, one phase at a time.

Testing the mettle of these dimensional exiles. Will they last more than a heartbeat while he prepares to weave a spell to escape this force-field trap?

Doom expects not.

There's air, and the worldship's big enough to generate it's own gravity - Morph springs out into the hallway of the ship to meet the robotic sentinels head-on, literally - he stretches himself into a rubber-band shape to encompass the necks of the robots, and contracts, slamming them together and dealing minor damage to their metallic skulls.

"You beat them by hitting them hard, or making them hit each other! That's Superhero 101!"

The robots recover quickly, and begin to direct their eyebeams and fist-blows towards Morph.

With the group mostly disembarked, Sarah launches herself into the midst of the robots, having gotten used to Sentinels and their tendency to have trouble targeting when they have to consciously avoid each other, and have a moving target.

Of course, as she flies, she launches the hammer towards the first target. "Get ready to take cover as soon as the field is down, we need to keep them from targeting the ship!"

The General has been quiet for a while. A good while, really.

Almost as if he were coming to terms with something. Maybe he was just really accepting that the Exiles were right, and Reed was, for the first time in forever, wrong...

...either way. Finishing the preperations, the old soldier leaps out of the ship, twisting to fire a quick blast from his rifle at one of the robot soldiers before landing with a smack onto the ground. "We gotta direction we should be goin'in?"

Hit them hard, they say. Easier said when you're indestructible and can hammer a nail into the earth's core. A bit harder when you're basically just a guy with bug powers.

Still... world at stake and all.

Two weblines snake up behind one of the robots as he flings himself onto its head. Hoping to get close enough to spot a weakness... or some kind of technological glitch to exploit. Design flaw, something...

In the meantime, he fires two big web globs onto the thing's optics, hoping at least to blind it.

"Get me inside!"

A handgun won't do much against these things, but she knows her way around a motherboard. At the very least, she can pull wires and grind gears.

Patriot has already disappeared into the shadows... trying to find a place where he can actually do damage with his weapons.

Time to play his favorite game: snipe the gunshot on the weak point of the donkey.

Spider-Man fires a webline down at Mystique, figuring two heads are better than one.

"Tell me you have an idea!"

Flesh appears to rot on her face as yellowed teeth are revealed through gaping wounds in her cheek. "BRAAAAINS!"

She winks the eye that isn't lolling out of it's socket. "Get me in the chest. Only an idiot would keep that thing's brains in its head." Hers is currently nestled under her diaphragm.

"Assuming these things operate on a humanoid level... but it's better than anything I've got. What are you packing by way of explosives? I don't think my pig-shredders are going to pierce this can," he returns, stomping on the headplate for emphasis before moving to the edge to try and find a way into the chest... or just inside the shell at all.
