Escape velocity.

Colonel Parker's crew of fools has been subjugated, and now Doom strides through the corridors, leading this motley assortment of fodder and strategically concealing the group from prying security eyes.

"Grimm," Doom says, in a condescending tone. "Do you have an adequate craft, or shall I summon my own?"

The hangar bay is a large facility constructed on a long artificial extension on the south end of the island. It has wide, open doors and a retractable roof, currently in the open position.

Unfortunately, the path leading to the hangar is fairly devoid of cover, and the sudden closing-off of the doors behind them are the first clue for the Exiles that SHIELD isn't quite done with them.

Elsewhere, a single radio communique is given.

//Seal the corridors shut behind them, and lock down the vent shafts. The Excel Squadron can handle them once they're in the open.//

"Shocking hell, WE ARE TRYING TO SAVE YOUR SHOCKIN' WORLD!" Spider-Man barks the instant the doors jerk closed behind them. He crouches down and gets into a defensive position.

Doom continues to stride forward, his sensors having picked up the location of this... Fantasticar.

Doom shall not be impeded.

Mystique shifts into a duplicate of Sarah. She stares at the hangar door, waiting to see what their attackers will look like next.

God, she wants a cigarette.

There's nothing at first. Then, a faint buzzing of small rocket engines.

Then the hangar completely fills with ear-piercing hypersonic laughter, as five figures on rocket-powered gliders come blasting over the edges of the open roof in V formation. The laughter is coming from the figure at the front of the V, decked out in green and black. To his left are a purple and black armored figure, and a female in solid black with wings under the arms. On his right are a light blue and black jacketed figure with discs strapped all over his sleeves and legs, and a figure in yellow with light armor bits.

The laughter abates momentarily to issue commands. "St Commons, drop a shadow field to mute out whatever Zarathos might start flinging. McDonough and Gallo, just mix it up and keep them cut off from one another. Gallo, focus on the Parker-knockoff. Gilmore, hit fast and hard on the one with the hammer and shield. I'll extract the General ( ... )

Sarah notices what Mystique did first, then hears the commands being issued.
"They're going to try and cut us off, stay close, don't leave anyone behind, and watch out for the General!" she calls.

More quietly, under the cackling, she calls into the comms. "Morph, Maytique gave me an idea... once they engage, if we can get a distraction, think you can swap places with me and tie their powerhouse up for a bit?"

She reminds herself for the seventh or eighth time today to thank Spider for making these things.

A hangar is much more Patriot's environment than a closed cell. Wincing from the pain from the laughter, he disappears behind one of the smaller vessels.

The nice thing about sonics like that... even echoing in the hangar as it is, it makes it remarkably easy to target the source with a well-placed stunbolt from behind cover.

Mystique whispers back to Morph and Crusader.

"I can't take a hit the way you two can. Once the three of us engage, I can splatter Sarah with blood so they think she's me. Then Morph and I can play tag with the powerhouse while she takes the smallfry down. Sound good?"

Quietly back. "I wasn't planning to fight them. Their flight capabilities are limited, and we're wasting time. I just need their brick wall out of the way long enough to put a hole in their ranks for a run at the Fantasticar. I can lift it until the engines fire up - I can whip up a wind behind us. These people are nuts, but they're not our enemies... makes more sense to run."

He has no idea who Gallo is, but the solid-black person could easily be another Venom knock-off, so with a launch upwards and a controlled web-spring, he soars feet first at her.

"Why are you idiots so determined to ignore all the options?! THIS ISN'T THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD!"

Sorely irritated about this science-topia that still sucks.

Small minds.

In the interest of being expedient, Doom actually deigns to stop and help for the moment.

Without drawing more attention to himself, he attempts to lock onto these foot soldiers' communication frequencies to jam them up, to render them less coordinated.

Morph grits his 'teeth'.

"I don't like these sonic attacks much, ladies. I'm gonna hit their boss-man and hope for the best - but I can pull the switch in mid-combat. Just give me a hand signal or something."

Morph takes to the air, zipping to intercept Urich's trajectory towards Grimm.

"Hey, laughing boy! Heads up!"

Sarah nods to Morph, adding to Mystique before she charges their muscle "Can you manage a distraction once we've blunted their offensive... so Morph can swap with me, and I can try and create an escape route for us?"

That said, without waiting for an answer, she heads towards the person assigned to keep her distracted, at high speed.

Urich narrows his eyes, still laughing. He'd hoped the sonic attack would disrupt the shifter, but the blue one seems to still be holding the younger girl's shape.

As the molecular shifter comes at him, battlefield experience takes hold underneath the lunatic laughing. Blast a limb and they can recover well enough, better to let the shockwave just move them out of the way.

He pulls a conspicuously familiar orange and yellow sphere from a satchel on his waist, twists a dial on it, and hurls it at morph. It counts off mechanically.

4...3..t-- It explodes 'prematurely', Morph being struck by the explosion right in front of him wholly, rather than taking a hit to any one part of his body. Urich spirals upside down around the ensuing cloud of chaff, still intent on extracting Grimm ( ... )

Pumpkin bombs, he knows. As the bomb is hurled, he shifts into a denser form, better able to stand up to the shockwave - and after the explosion, piercing through the cloud of smoke and hurtling down towards Urich.. comes a pale, oversized lawn dart.

"I'll put your eye out, kid!"

Of course it couldn't be that easy. Why should it? But where there are pumpkin bombs, the trademarked blades are never far behind. One neatly collides with the point of the lawn-dart, hurled as Urich veers away from his trajectory towards Grimm.

"Weren't you all recalled back in the 80's?"
