Orphans always make the best recruits.

I watched Skyfall today. Not much to say, really, other than that it was decent -- a lot more memorable than Quantum of Solace. I loved the opening credits, though not as much as Casino Royale's. I feel like one can draw out a lot of symbolism in that sequence (which can also double as an awesome music video for the title track), but that "one" isn't me at the moment. I liked Javier Bardem's Silva (the ham!), and Daniel Craig's pitch perfect as always. I loved seeing M take on a more hands-on approach, would've loved to see more of Eve, hated how disposable [Spoiler (click to open)]Sévérine was. Prior to Silva's introduction, the pacing chugged. I'm bored of how it seems like every Bond film now has to have an elaborate action chase in an exotic location as its opening. I had also expected a deeper exploration of Bond and M's relationship, of MI6's machinations. On that note, albeit somewhat unrelated, I didn't feel all that emotionally invested in the film. I didn't know that Ralph Fiennes and Helen McCrory are in this. I've been to the National Gallery!
