That's the price you paid.

The second week of school is over, and Chinese New Year is [almost] upon us! With that, I'd like to announce that I dropped EN3249. It wasn't what I thought it would be. In spite of the word "film" in the title, it doesn't have a lot to do with the world of cinema. Instead, it's a mash of art history and cultural studies, and I don't do the former. I reckoned it'd be a bit of a CAP puller, too, since I won't be able to speak up much in tutorials on account of how much I know about art, i.e., not a lot. Also, EN3244 is so infuriating. I can't decide which is worse: the sweeping generalisations or the inane comments people seem to make a lot of in that class.

Moving on to the second part of the opening sentence! I went shopping by myself on Wednesday to buy new clothes, and surprisingly, it was fun. I bought a dress shirt, a dress, and a shirt that can double as a dress. I also bought two new pairs of jeans the next day; I'm pleased to find out that I dropped a size, hooray!

Remember my story, Strangeness and Charm? (Never mind that I've been neglecting it somewhat. But, school!) I made a graphic depicting the cast I have for the characters in my head (as well as a Tumblr photo set, because I like those).

That's Malese Jow as our protagonist who has her head buried a little too deep in Gothic and Romantic fiction, Lisbeth Fairfield; Armie Hammer as the love interest with a secret, Ethan Hammond; Jennifer Lawrence as the best friend and straight man, Cassandra Fulton; Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the one with an axe to grind, Melinda Brill; and Anton Yelchin as the enigmatic, quiet friend (?), Nathaniel Maitland. I had ascribed literary movements to them -- with the exception of Melinda and Nathaniel, who were saddled with philosophical trains of thought -- to elaborate further on their personalities. But I scrapped them because I wanted to associate everyone with a literary period, and I couldn't decide what to do with Ethan, Melinda, and Nathaniel; and because I realised that there's a lot of overlap.

Fun facts! Malese and Armie were in The Social Network together (though they were never together on-screen), and at some point in time, Anton and Armie were at the same event? I've seen pictures of them together on Tumblr, but no context is ever given. The kicker? I had no idea of either of these until after I came up with this. Hm!
