Recent absence can be attributed to a lack of Internet at home. Tons of theories are being thrown about, but the one I have the fullest confidence in is that last month's bill wasn't paid on time because the error I've been getting isn't my good friend, "Can not get IP from PPPoE server", but rather, "PPPoE authentication fail". Bad English aside, failed authentication can only mean one thing: something's wrong with the account. And well, the fact that when I bypassed the router using my laptop, I got an error that said the username and/or password is invalid also helped me come to that conclusion.
The bill's been paid but apparently, because we paid through the bank and not to TM straight, and they take ~three working days~ to process the payment and Friday, the day we paid, isn't considered a working day, I'm still Internet-less. By that logic, I should get back my Internet either today or tomorrow. And if that doesn't happen, there's going to be hell to pay - no pun intended, if you think there was one.
I wish there was a concrete solution to all of this, otherwise I wouldn't give myself little deals like above. streamyx insists that there's something wrong with my line, so I should go bother Maxis - the telephone operator my area falls under - with this problem instead. Yeah, that might work - if I was using wired broadband and actually required a phone line to connect, fuckers. I'd prefer being told to stop calling them and just go pay the damn bill, if that is what led to this, to running around in circles like I am now, wondering what the hell is wrong. And why is it that even though the several connection errors are explained on their website, the people I talk to on the phone act as if I'm speaking Greek to them when I bring them up?
I've also been sick over the weekend. I'm down with the flu as a result of the sudden temperature changes I'd undergone when I was in Singapore on Saturday: I'd be all hot and sweaty from shopping, and then I'd somehow be right under the air-con once I got on the train.
The reason I was in Singapore on Saturday? I got my Nintendo DS Lite! I'll take pictures when I'm feeling better. The games I got were Pokemon Pearl (but of course) and Nintendogs: Dachshund and Friends. I wanted to get Guitar Hero: On Tour, but after watching a video about it on YouTube, I had doubts because my hand-eye coordination is made of suck. So I'm not ready to blow almost $90 on something I'd try once and never play again because well, I suck.
I also went to get back my C905 from the service centre. But ha, guess what? It's got yet another problem. The battery drains really fast even though it's left to rot on standby. It went flat in a mere couple of hours on Monday. I'm going to send it for service again tomorrow, and when it comes back, I'm selling it off and getting a new one - of another brand - instead. It's driving me up the wall. And gadgets owned by me don't and shouldn't usually do that, unless they want to end up smashed as a result of being thrown at the wall. Or yeah, sold off in less than half a year after it was bought. This time, I won't go for the fancy-shmancy, super high-tech stuff anymore - I'm planning to get the humble E71. Thanks to my iPhone, I'm digging phones with QWERTY keypads now.
My interview at NUS yesterday went alright. I could've done better, but I did do the best I could while I was in there, and I hope it's good enough for NUS to consider me as a future student there. The best thing to come out of that interview was:
Interviewer #1: So, in your opinion, is creativity inborn or nurtured?
Me: Well, for me, I think it's a bit of both ... *looks at Interviewer #1 and slumps* Oh, man.
Interviewer #2: Don't look at me! She was the one who gave you that question!
Interviewer #1: Aha! Okay, we're being a bit tough on you there, so we're going to change the question ...
What can I say - I don't do well when I'm put on the spot.
I am hoping I do get accepted, of course. But if I don't ... then there's NTU, I suppose. I've gotten an acceptance letter from them already, and it's now up to me to accept their offer. Still, fingers crossed for NUS!
