HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
Firstly, I think I owe everyone an explanation on my whereabouts last month. Quite simply, it was an experiment - no, not a ~social experiment~, but an experiment to not post for an entire month, contrasting the
NaBloPoMo challenge I had taken - and completed! - in November. I'd then directed whatever need I had to broadcast the goings-on in my life to my Twitter, which, as a result, now has 529 updates, compared to the dinky number I had at the beginning of the month. Now I can't remember what the exact number was, but trust me, it was dinky.
It was pretty hard, I must say. There were some big things that had happened that I wanted to blog about, things that definitely required more than the 140 characters allowed on Twitter. Then again, I didn't feel as pressured as I did in November to find something to post about everyday, which would explain the oktoLIVE! advertisements every Tuesday, a practice which has now been stopped. (Heh.)
For now and beyond, though, I'll revert to the good ol' posting regime: post whenever there is a veritable topic at hand. Memes are, of course, welcomed anytime.
With that out of the way, it's time for the obligatory reflective post on the year that's just come to an end! (That's 2008, by the way, for the uninformed ...) 2008 was honestly, a shit year for me. I'd gone through several depression spells this year; my GPAs took a nosedive; I'd lost my loved ones, namely my three grandparents (my grandfather just passed away on Christmas Eve) and Cosmo; and some other personal shit too, which I can't exactly mention here. It's pretty much a year I want to forget for the most part, and it's made me come to realise that even-numbered years don't go so well for me lately.
But of course, everything wasn't all doom and gloom ... The biggest pick-me-up of 2008 for me was none other than The Dark Knight, which had me infatuated with the man pictured above for almost half a year. It also saw me become the proud owner of a MacBook Pro, an iPhone, and just recently, a Nikon D90. (It was a Christmas gift from my parents. It really, really surprised me! In fact, the picture above was taken using it.) And, sort of most importantly, I got to know Hensem and make some really great new friends on the bus!
So on that note, let's hope that there's no other direction to go to than up, up, up for 2009!
(For those wondering, and for all that talk about Twitter, my account can be found
here. Updates are locked though, so you'll need to add me and I you if you want to see them.)
