job-hunting sucks.

Okay this is frustrating. I have a good job now. Does not meet the pay requirements of some Albertans, but its more difficult to find a job in my field than that guys. And I have one. And its a damn good start. I'm really excited, actually. But this job does not start for another week and a half, which leaves me inclined to search for work to fill in the time, and exploit maximum earning potential. There was a job fair today and I attended. Just like any other I've attended before, but the problem was that this time the place was next to empty, and everyone seemed desperate. They don't even want to see your resume anymore. I was basically hired at a couple of places for part-time work. The one that fit the description of my prefered working environment was a cashier in a grocery store. This would be great for the weekends and after my important, meaningful work. But just one question: Since when are grocery store workers unionized? I will get wage of $10/hr and still have to pay union fees, just so if I was accused of stealing something they will fight to keep my job. Hell, if I actually did steal something and was caught, they would fight to keep my job. That's just honkey.

I'm a bit weary of some other union commitments I would be making unawares. This is frieghtning, and I would rather not have anything to do with it. I understant that this is a topic of mixed opinion, but it screams bad news, especially i had to put three hours of this work infront of serious work. Maybe i should just stick to my meaningful job.

On the plus side, I was interviewd (well, basically forced into an interview) for a hostess/waitress position (which I would undoubtably suck at, not to put myself down but it doesnt' match my characteristics). By suprise, I got a gift cirtificate for my efforts. mmmm food.

One thing funny I just did: sent an incomplete inquiry email to an HR person about another position, and i have no idea what it said. I'm just going to leave it and hope for the best.
