I did have to wait briefly in line, but that was mostly due to the flakiness of the woman who was supposed to be herding the incoming voters. I got there around 7:20 am and was done in under 20 minutes. There were only a handful of local races on our ballot and most of them had unopposed incumbents.
But there are people in places in this country where citizens are intimidated. One of the protections of the secret ballot is that if no one can prove how they voted, no one can be compelled to prove they voted the "right" way. So you should never have been allowed to photograph a ballot. We have plenty of trouble with this still with absentees in my state. I worry when I see a picture like that posted.
As long as no one can COMPELL me to produce a picture of my ballot, there's no harm. I'm posting this out of pride in participating in a historic event.
Anyone who doesn't want to say who they voted for, that's perfectly cool with me, and I'll defend their right to secrecy to the limits of my ability.
