Rolf Klausner of The Acorn, Exit/In. Nashville.
a few things:
  • I'm meeting up with Rolf (above) tonight for some headshots and Q&A regarding his songwriting and The Acorn before their show with Calexico at Mercy Lounge. I've loved their music for a while now, but have their earlier Tin Fist EP has really been the soundtrack of recent days. In other news, this will be my second writing piece for American Songwriter. It's nice to break from doing the art every once in a while and actually get to ask the questions to the musicians I deem necessary. D. Jurado was last time, D. Witmer is next week. Pumped.
  • My sister was in town Saturday night. Among things that we did include: dinner with Colleen at Jackson's then Yazoo Brewery's 5th Anniversary party.. It was a beautifully cold night huddled around heaters in the belly of the old Marathon factory. We then went to see The Protomen, which might have been the most epic performance I've seen of them yet. Then we went down to lower Broadway and danced at Robert's, and then at Layla's, and then went to East Nashville to visit the tacotruck and friends and then went back home to sleep 'round 3 am. Tiring, but fun.
  • The magazine's in deadline for the next issue already. Set to go to press before Thanksgiving, lets see if I survive the next two weeks.
  • I'm surviving on the most minimal of cash this week. Thanks college loans!
  • I like taking early morning walks. Downtown syline covered in fog, and the air is biting. I love it.

    back to work.
