I went wine-tasting at a vineyard on the Rhein River, about 100 km west of Frankfurt on Friday. Fascinating place. This weekend I was in Heidelburg, a pleasant university town with a stunning castle. Patton thought the city was beautiful and so it remained as one of the few German cities not bombed to smitherines during the second world war. Then I proceeded to Worms, home of a spectacular catherdral, the grave of ancestor Conrad II, and of course known for being the location of the historical concordat of Worms.

Been taking six hours of class per day at the Goethe University, which is interesting, though pretty long. I wandered up to the top floor of the university, and for some reason there were all these Hitler posters. I wandered out of there quickly.

Lars, the coordinater of the ISU (internazionale Sommer universität) did an impression of a nazi soldier the other day. Its awkward when a german does it, because your never sure if its politically correct to laugh or not.

Class ends Thursday, by golly. Then closing ceremonies, etc, and on Saturday I start Eurailing for three weeks. I reckon Ill take the morning train to Berlin, then head next week over to Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, and Venice. Maybe Budapest, if Im Hungary enough.

Comin back to America on Aug 30th, huzzah!
