So im back from England! We were supposed to be back Thursday, but the flight from London was late so we got in an hour late and then missed our flight to Pensacola. It was a bloody pain in the butt too! I mean, hear it is, 8:30, and we have an hour to get to our flight, sounds reasonable. Problem: we are switching airlines from British Airways to Delta, plus the first landing point in a new country you must grab your luggage and recheck them on. So, we need to grab our luggage, get on the Airtrain, go to Terminal 3 from terminal 7, check-in on Delta, check on our luggage, go through security, find the gate and board......If we were the luckiest people in the world, yeah, maybe, but no, it doesn't work like that. We get off the plane, run over to grab our bags (4), and the last bags off the carosel are ours...how convenient. We then hear that British Airways will transfer our bags so we run over to give our bags to them. Unfortunately, they need 90 minutes to be sure that the bags will make it to our next flight, so the woman tells us that we have to take our bags over to Terminal 3. So we run on the Airtrain, and we go the wrong way. We get off the next stop, and eventually are heading in the right direction and get off at the stop for Terminal 3. We look for a sign for departures and it goes around the corner of this big building so we follow it. It is of course the steepest hill in New York and I have to take our 4 bags on a "smart kart" which IS NOT very smart.....*curses at the smart kart*......Finally we get up there, get inside, have no idea what time it is. We find a woman who simply says I'll see what I can do. We follow her and she calls at the gate, and after a few minutes tells us, I'm sorry, it's 9:15 and it's too late for you to get the flight. So, the woman tells us that we have to go back to British Airways (which, we estimate, was a 20 minute journey between the terminals). So we go back and everything actually went ok. There were about 4 or 5 groups that we recognized from the plane who were going through the same thing. We finally sat down and the man reticketed us on a plane and a woman gave us a voucher for a night at the Ramada hotel (which would have cost $230 a night......M.G.....anyway, we finally get out of there because apparently the ticket he was trying to give us wasn't British Airways', but Delta's, so legally he couldn't touch it, but it was so late that he said just go to the hotel. So we go to the shuttle area, and a big bus comes with Ramada written on the side. We get on and after a 10 minute ride we get to the hotel. We get off and walk into the lobby and see a queue....oh lord...i mean a line that is already out the door. So we stand in line for about an hour and we finally get our key. By the time we got into our room it was 2:30. Now, remember, we travelled from England, which is 6 hours ahead of here, 5 hours ahead of NY. So it was 7:30 in the morning in England. We woke up in Liverpool at 6 in the morning the day before, so we had been up already for 25 1/2 hours. That really is a long time when your travelling.....but we're finally here!!! *cheers*
