Jean eyed the building as he moved up to the entrance.  It was nice-looking building he decided, but even more important was that it was safer than his current residence.  Upon reaching the intercom, he realized that there were a number of Elric brothers living here and while that meant added safety.  It also made figuring out which one owned the ( Read more... )

Edward is actually just outside the back patio door when he hears the buzzer. He scowls, curious who on earth was calling, and steps back inside and answers the intercom. "Hello?"

"Hi, Is this the Ed that owns the place?" He pauses a moment, before adding "It's Havoc"

The mun can't remember if these two have met while Jean's been in his actual body.

This mun doesn't think they have.

"Yeah, this is. Hang on a sec, I'll let you in." It took him a second- he's not used to buzzing people in, most people have a key, but he gets the front door unlocked for Havoc with a distinct ... well, buzzing sound.

((Riza-mun> Not to mention it sounds pervy.

Ed> STFUKTHNXBAI))

Jean waits patiently until the buzzing sound and then makes his way in. He pauses just inside the doorway, taking a good look at the hallway, before moving to Ed's door. He knocks gently, waiting for Ed to open the door.

Riza had been outside as well, sitting on a chair on the patio, reading a book, when the buzzer had sounded. Edward was already up and moving to answer it, so she returned to her book.

Oops. Ah well, the mun bullshits that there was some other form or something Edward needed from the back rooms before he headed out to the patio.

He steps outside, shutting the door behind him. "Hey, Riza, got a second?"

[[I think that's just confusion on the munly scale trying to remember where we had them and me misreading what you meant... XD;;]]

Riza looked up at him, studying his face for a brief moment before answering. "Yes..." She closed her book, not looking away. "What's up?"

((XD;;; Naw, I just forgot. ::COVERS HERSELF LIKE NINJA- YOU SAW NOTHING::))

Edward crouches by the chair she's in, folding his arms on the arm of the chair. "Havoc is here, or one of them. He's looking for an apartment to stay in. He needs a first floor apartment, since we don't have any elevators or anything for him to get his wheelchair up to the empty one on the third floor. I'm gonna talk to Al first chance I get about the one reserved for him and his brother, see if they'd mind taking that one upstairs instead, but I'm getting the feeling he needs a place now, pretty much. He said something about just preferring to be in the AV field, but..." He shrugs.

"Anyway, I was thinking, for a temporary arrangement until I can talk to Al, I'd move across the hall with Alfons and he could stay with you, since you're the one he knows better. Would you have a problem with that at all?"

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

Later on the next day, the move had went by smoothly with relative ease. Once everything was moved over and either stacked in a corner for later unpacking, or placed where Jean could get to things, and after Ed left and Riza checked to make sure he had everything well in hand, she retreated to the sanctuary of her own room.

Only when it was toward the later part of twilight did she come out, realizing how late it was, and that she probably ought to make something to eat, for herself if not the both of them.

Jean was outside on the patio, smoking. He still wasn't sure about this and if it was only temporary he could come out here to smoke. It didn't matter he was paying, he still felt like a guest in this Hawkeye's home.

She caught sight of him through the doors on her way to the kitchen and hesitated before walking over, pushing the sliding glass open. "Hi," she said, her voice soft. "I was about to make myself something to eat. Did you want anything? I'm not much of a cook, but it'll be edible, at least..."

He glances at her out of the corner of his eye as he takes a long drag on his cigarette. He sighs, "I'll fix something myself when I get hungry"

Riza curled up on her bed and tried to muffle the sounds the best she could against her pillow. That had been the reaction she'd expected from the Havoc from her world, and to hear it now, unexpected, when she was feeling isolated and lonely and unnecessary now that Ed was gone - even if he was right across the hall, he was gone, and she didn't feel comfortable with intruding on them (he has more a right to Edward than I ever did) - left her reeling.

She only left her bedroom once, after crying hard enough for long enough that she barely made it to the bathroom before getting sick to her stomach. Once she'd calmed down enough to leave, she retreated back in, locking the door, and falling into an exhausted and fitful sleep.

Jean had fallen asleep after reading for about an hour. He thought he would sleep easier, because he was safe from Lust here, he was in physical danger. He thought wrong, he slept for a bit, before one of his usual nightmare hits. It was probably sparked by his guilt that he had attempted to abandon his world's Mustang; his fear that if one Mustang would leave a Hawkeye who couldn't shoot, then why wouldn't another leave behind a crippled man. It didn't matter what sparked it, all that mattered was it was there and he had to wake up ( ... )

She sat bolt upright in bed, kicking and fighting against the blankets, drenched in cold sweat. Her own heartbeat was loud in the stillness of the room, her pulse roaring in her ears over the winded, ragged gasps as she struggled to breathe.

There was still the sound of thunder echoing in her mind, the dull, steady patter of a hard rain, and the voices, all the voices, calm and pitying, disgusted.

Why didn't you listen? She kicked off the covers and climbed out of bed, shivering uncontrollably as she grabbed her housecoat and pushed her damp hair out of her eyes. She had to get out, outside, had to see the sky, look for clouds, rain, storms. Higher ground ( ... )

Jean's barely noticed her, his focus on cleaning the gun until she starts talking.

"It's your place, you do what you want" he tells her not taking his eyes off his task.
