Oh look, it's BBI!Al come to visit that-Edward-that-isn't-annoying-despite-being-an-alternate. (He's a sweetheart, really, isn't he?) He knocks on the door after a moment of hesitation. Al's not particularly convinced that Edward would want to see him, but he's missed chatting with someone he feels comfortable with.
He looks up from his coffee at the sound of the knock, and glances around briefly before reaching for his crutch. "Coming!" he calls to whoever it is on the other side of the door as he gets to his fe- er, foot, and makes his way for the door.
Once he opens it, he grins. He's gotten pretty good at telling the various alternates apart, and this particular Al looks different from the others (he won't admit that he looks more like Alfons than the others do). "Hey there," he greets, opening the door a little wider and backing out of the way to let him in.
He makes that whole 'missing limbs' thing look easy, the wretch.
Enjoy the denial Ed, Al's going to have a definite omgwtf moment when he meets your boyfriend who is very close in appearance to him. Hopefully he'll hide it well enough not to offend anyone horribly.
Al smiles, just a tad bit timid- he's only been in Edward's apartment once, and he doesn't know if the random convesations around the apartment count as being a friend. Oh well, he's being invited in, so that's a good sign. "Hey, it's been a while," he answers after he steps inside, relaxing fairly quickly once he's in. Missing limbs? Al doesn't even notice past 'oh, Ed doesn't have automail' on.
Edward closes the door behind him, still smiling. "Yeah, it has. But I haven't been around, so don't worry about it. Come on, kitchen's this way. You want something to drink?"
Wow, Ed, you just have this little routine down. Someone might almost mistake you for a good host or something.
"About as much as ever," she replied to Edward with a faint shrug and smile before turning to the cabinet and opening it for a glass. She glanced at Al as he spoke up.
He got a slightly awkward, but still real smile in response before she turned away to get some ice cubes out of the freezer. "I don't believe we have, no." She paused and gave him an awkward, apologetic smile over her shoulder briefly. "Funny thing to say with you being an Al and us living in the same building for the last several months. My apologies if I seem like a recluse, I'm not really a social sort." Another apologetic smile before turning to the sink to get her water.
No, Riza really doesn't know that Al. At all. In the slightest. She knows he and his brother aren't exactly the most outgoing, but all of that is secondhand information.
Al gives points to Riza for the recluse comment, although a few points are lost for Al generalization. She's doing so-so at the moment. He'll let it slide since she admits to being unsociable which he can understand, and he appreciates the returned courtesy she's giving him. (He's still relatively prickly, no matter what.) "I don't get out much either," he answers, sounding a tad wry. "You probably won't think I'm much of an Al."
She studied him a moment then shrugged and sipped her water. "Al is Al. So you're not as outgoing sunshine-and-rainbows constantly-cuddly like the two I know a bit better. I wouldn't be too shocked if most people didn't think I was much of a Riza." She grinned - and Al? You'd probably recognize the essence of it. It's Riza's version of that hated fake grin of Ed's. "I'm the only Hawkeye in the Nexus who's afraid to fire a gun."
Edward would never admit to having been a bit worried about how Al might react to Riza- he doesn't know about the Riza from their world showing up, but he does know that this Al isn't particularly a fan of people in general, and Riza is a new person to him. And Riza is also someone who wouldn't react well to Al's usual... well... assholishness.
Seeing they at least are being civil, he flashes Al a grateful smile, then glances over at Riza, biting back a frown at the sight of that smile.
It's no wonder Al always hated that smile.
"You've also lived a different life than they have," Edward says, motioning her over. Deal with it a second, Al, he'll let her go take a shower in a second. This Edward is a bit more contact-starved than his alternates, he doesn't pass up opportunities for a hug.
Alfons is being OOCly blackmailed into this thread, since he knows how much of a brat BBI!Al is. But hey, he's here. Under duress.
...Getting back to IC here.
Alfons glances into the kitchen, certain he heard voices that weren't Riza or Edward, although he missed the knock at the door. The other voice sounds familiar, although he doesn't realize why until he sees who Edward's talking to. Oh hey, it's an Al, and not an Al he's familiar with (who looks quite close to him but hey, he joins Edward in the denial).
But he's an Al, so he'll be nice, right? Oh Alfons, you poor naive fool. He makes his best "^_^" face as he stands in the kitchen doorway. "Hello Edward, and- one of the tenants? Al?"
Edward glances back over his shoulder at Alfons, smiling warmly. "Yeah, this is Al. He lives up on the third floor with his brother. The alternate that wears the uniform most of the time?" He looks back at Al. "This is Alfons Heiderich."
Denial, not just a river in Egypt, and apparently also something the whole family can play!
Alfons and Edward may both be in denial, but Al is one with the 'bzuh he looks like me!' He raises an eyebrow at Alfons, then looks back to Ed.
"When you said there were similarities besides the name, were you going for understatement?"
Yes. He is a rude little brat and ignoring saying hello back to Alfons. Clearly Riza wasted his politeness for the day- and he's a bit startled by Alfons, much as he presents the image of vaguely amused apathy most of the time.

See, impoliteness from this Al doesn't even make him bat an eyelash.
