These things take time

A little something to feed your minds before I go to sleep. Even though it is Wednesday, I promised news from Monday; so here it is. Woke up around noonish and pretty much sat around until Greg called at like 2. Apparently we were tailgating at Regency for the 4th. If that sounds like something you didn't know people do, that's because they don't. I had to wait until my dad left the kitchen, which seemed like forever, to snag the 2/3 full bottle of Smirnoff from the freezer. If that doesn't scream 8th grade to early high school, I don't know what does. It gets better. Usually, it's not that hard to get booze and most of our parents don't give a shit anyway, but this time was different. I picked up Chad and we went over to Greg's where I ran the liquor to his car under a beach towel. With a slight frown, but more of a laugh, he showed us his stash: two budlights and a mike's hard lemonade. Wowsa :/ We loaded up my stuff, with Chad's slightly more pathetic half of a propel bottle of gin; which he swore was 8 shots. 5 maybe Chad, I don't jew out my shots. We then left Greg's.

Went on over to Winn Dixie where we bought 6 dollar ice, bottles of pepsi and other necessities. Greg blatantly and loudly made fun of these Indian guys and what their names probably were. Needless to say Ajay and Rameesh were pretty pissed. We dipped on over to Bojangles where we picked up a tailgate special and Chad decided to openly criticize the lack of seasoning on the fries in front of the nice lady behind the counter. She laughed it off as I quickly pushed Chad out of Bo's. We finally made it over to Regency and proceeded to do exactly what everyone else in the entire parking lot wasn't... pop the tailgate and sit around. Everyone was in such a hurry to get a "good" spot inside but we were happy to just sit and drink. Plus my loser parents had set up a stellar spot at 11 in the morning, so we were golden.

We set up our 3 American flags, that Greg's mom was kind enough to tuck in our supplies, around our chairs and relaxed. We made some pretty decent vodka and pepsi's and talked about random stuff. It was great to just sit around and not do anything but hang out with my buddies. We listened to Dave Matthews and Led Zeppelin and complained about how hot we were getting because of the liquor. I had a blast. We took some funny pictures and tried our best to direct Dave and his lady to our location. Our friendly rent-a-cop, keeping America safe one parking lot at a time, made sure all we were drinking was pepsi and left us alone. Ajay and Rameesh actually walked right past us after they parked which was funny/weird. They gave us a nice look and continued on their way. Chad laughed because I called the liquor booze, he was drunk or had a "solid buzz" by this time. Dave showed up and we tossed back our beers and headed toward the lake. I made sure I grabbed the lyrics to "America" by the real deal Neil Diamond that I made Greg print out earlier that day, so we could sing as we walked and look stupid. It was great but frustrating, because in our drunken state no one had the beat. We laughed it off and pressed on.

Ran into Katie Gilliam and Derek Eaton which was.... well whatever. Chad's drunk was wearing off and he was furious. He tried to buy a beer, yes just one, for a dollar from Derek. He got turned down and it began to rain. Then they started the fireworks. By this time it was freakin pooring and if I wasn't drunk I'd be pissed. Actually I still kind of was. The fireworks were decent but came in spurts and really lacked any consistent barrage of excitement. Chad told us of this "awesome" party afterward. We hopped back into the Explorer and rolled out there. Chad started to steal beer immediately upon arrival and got his drunk back up and running. It was a bunch of '04's and it was pretty damn lame. We left Chad and went back to Greg's to drop me off so I could drive home. Greg went back later to find Chad naked in this kid's backyard with a bunch of other naked girls. Glad I wasn't in attendance to see his shriveled manhood.

That was my Monday. Tuesday and today were very uneventful except that I ran today and didn't cramp up hardly at all. Stoked about that. I think I'm done here. More exciting tales to come for sure.

Nick Notes version: I got drunk for the 4th, Chad got crazy, Greg laughed at us.. the end.
