ok, so instead of the usual skipping over my entry
about how awesome i am, just read this one and maybe
leave some feedback.
so we're reading about the Hellenistic Age
and the part that made me think the most were the Cynics.
Greece's fall to the "inferior" Macedonians really fucked up
everyone's way of thinking.
their way of life and thinking was blown to pieces because of its
"failure" and everything was then rejected.
and is that not the true sign of the fall of an empire
or even of a powerful civilization?
something happens that makes the people
say "oh shit, this really ISNT the way things are"
a few weeks ago i was talking to friends and i presented
the idea that 9/11 marked the beginning of the end of the
American Empire because this "defeat" on American soil
totally shook everything up. just remember how you felt
your thoughts, and most importantly those of the your
friends, family, and neighbors.
the feeling of being untouchable was gone.
people lost faith in the government, in their neighbor,
ridiculous amounts of paranoia could be found everywhere.
the affect on the people more than the physical damage
and loss of life made me think of this.
i also said that going to war would just speed up the fall.
so reading about the Cynics of course i see that its true today.
how does the average person feel about our country RIGHT NOW?
who the hell wants to die for this country anymore?
especially the youth, who is proud to be an american at this moment?
so all these things are going on in my mind and in class today
good ol Dr. Allen says that he truly believes this war is the
beginning of the end. he mentioned how some historian backed it up
with the signs of past empires and that in amount of years,
the American empire is in its last years.
what put it all together was when he said that the MYTH of America is gone.
thats what made my jumbled thoughts come together and seem
decently intelligent.
not only have we stopped believing in the myth, but the rest of the world has.
if you have family in as many foreign countries as i do you understand
how just as recently as 2 years ago being American was great.
even in countries that understood the truth about the US and its willingness
to do anything it takes to get what it wants and some hatred existed,
this country was respected and admired.
y ahora??
now those voices of dislike and hatred are many and loud.
and also coming from within.
we see the past history and compare it to what is happening right now
and we're seeing past the myth. this empire is brutal.
it has been, and it continues to be.
Allen thought the US actually had a chance of ruling the world without force
and through diplomacy and that it wouldnt go the way of all the others.
we are now a CLEAR threat to the world
past enemies will form alliances in order to protect themselves.
we also now know that we can be hurt. and good.
i think i'll get hit by lightning before i die from a terrorist act
but the people with the duct tape think differently.
i hope i made some sense because this shit is so fuckin
historic and important. we are on the way down.
what does this hold for our futures?
i just hope for a Britain like transition.
and long live the Chinese!!!!
i remembered something Mao said...
the US is a paper tiger. he knew it yo.
