So I mentioned last night that I was irritated with my property managers, and I don't think that's really a fair thing to say after sleeping on it. Last night I got home after a long day at work and a bad night at trivia (and it was a lonely anniversary as well), to find a note under my door. In the note they said that they were going to inspect the apartment between noon and two, as they JUST NOW REALIZED that we are paying less on our rent than usual and they want a reason why. So I guess they think that coming in and checking out the apartment is the proper way to discern why this is happening instead of, you know, asking us why. It's totally legit and I get that. It just pissed me off to come home to something that pretty much said that our rent is going to skyrocket. Suffice to say, I'm splitting here before noon, as I don't want to deal with that (they don't need my permission to come in, having technically giving me sufficient notice even though I didn't get it until 11:15) and letting them call Erik. Let's see how surprised they are when he mentions he's a law clerk and surrounded by lawyers, both personally and professionally.
SO, because of that Mom and I are going out. I need to get Erik an anniversary gift, after all. Once that is done we are set for Friday's belated celebration, as we have a reservation at Pazzaluna, a bottle of our wedding wine, and I just ordered our cake, as is our tradition. I might ask if we can go out to Stillwater for the day, or something like that.
And before I continue the meme, I am going to apply for an archivist job at St. Catherine's University. It's temporary, from September to December, which would be PERFECT in terms of filling in the gap between the next special exhibits at the museum. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but hey, our rent's gonna go up and I'm gonna need something.
30 Days Fanfiction Meme
20 - Do you ever get bunnied from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?
..... Not really. I mean, maybe a plotline will make me think that I want to explore it in a different way, but I can't recall seeing any other stories or fanart that has made me go 'I gotta write that!'
21 - Sequels - Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?
I have. I write sequels to some fics if I feel that there is more story to be told, or if I want to explore that certain situation I've set up. Though it's interesting, as a lot of them as of late can really just stand by themselves. I mean, THE GHOST IN YOU started out as a sequel to GIRLFRIEND, but it became so much more and you don't even need GIRLFRIEND to read it and keep up. Sequels are fine if done well, just like any fan fic.
