Physics Question

Jun 04, 2011 14:44

So my cousin and his soon to be wife are going to participate in an interesting physics experiment: Can you fit 500 people into a church that only sits 300?

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that 'no, no you can't. Not comfortably. Or safely'.

I'm just glad they are doing the unity sand and not a unity candle, because if there was fire ANYWHERE in that building, harmless even, I would be standing outside the church as far away as possible saying 'I'll just wait here, guys'.

I will return and answer this question tonight! We're also going to see if 500some people can comfortably fit in a VFW hall in a town thats population is about 1000. Seriously, this whole thing is sounding more and more like Bilbo Baggins' eleventy first birthday, where half The Shire was invited.

ETA: The answer...... No you can't fit them all in the church. But you can for sure fit them in the VFW. So I had a nice time. I had to bite my tongue when the Priest said that 'Sometimes sacrifices have to be made. Sometimes on Sundays Jarid may want to watch the football game, and Pam will want to go shopping because there's a two hour sale. So he'll have to take her shopping'. Now hey, I don't know Pam and maybe she loves shopping. But it just came off as 'yay women love shopping!' But besides that silliness, it was a good time! Saw relatives I hadn't seen in awhile, got some decent candy and a cupcake, and an open bar! Not too shabby. Back home tomorrow to help Erik pack.

ETA2: Aw FUCK YEAH!!! JURASSIC PARK is on the TV! I know what I'M doing the rest of the night! As much as this movie is wholly inaccurate about multiple dinosaur species, not to mention DNA and RNA engineering, I LOVE IT SO MUUUUUCH!!!

family, nerdiness
