Hey all. After my melt down of yesterday...or rather...this entire week or the week before. Ok, not meltdown, just consideration and thinking....I got to thinking about making a new journal with just my sports thoughts about the day's sporting events and things of that nature public. Like this one isn't already...but I mean, like putting a link in my profile. Letting everyone read my thoughts on sports..I think it would really make me feel better and just allow myself to be "heard". Even though I wouldn't even need people to read it. I still have to think about this some more.
Moving on, about the Yankees. I would just like to take the time to post part of my entry on February 16th, 2004. This was the Monday after A-Rod was traded to the Yanks.
"...Now for people who are gonna complain that the Yankees are just retarded and George Steinbrenner is the lord of all evil...let me tell you this. If you had that money and you were "Darth" then you'd do it too. People are so jealous of the fact that they can do whatever they want with their team. Let me tell you something else, if the Red Sox had the money..he would've been theirs. However, you forget one important detail...Nomar Garciaparra. The man would've been pissed. Also, on another note...people are jealous of the Yankees and their power to acquire players because of money. Well the jealousy might be there, but again...who has won the World Series in the past three years? Stumped? Let me help you: Diamondbacks, Angels (who beat the Yanks in the first round), and Marlins. All teams who are (a) young and (b) have a much lower pay roll than the Yanks. So obviously, this money thing shouldn't be an issue. The Yanks are struggling just as much as the next guy. And one more thing..they are in serious need of pitching still..."
Hmm, who called it? I did. The whole pitching part...and the salary part? Yeah, ok honestly, it's still a problem for the Yankees. They have the highest payroll in baseball and STILL they can't win a World Series. I just have to say shut up to baseball fans who think they are the root of all evil. They bring attendance up in EVERY ball park they go to. Yes, the Expos. Yes, the Royals. EVERYWHERE. Is that horrible for baseball? Is that whoring all the money...? HELL NO. Those ball parks benefit from the Yankees being there.
Anyways, still sad about yesterday. It was a historic day in baseball...hell, in sports. And I witnessed it. Can't wait to tell my kids and grandkids. I cried for a while last night. And made myself watch the Red Sox celebrate. I made myself. It was the only right thing to do. I couldn't sleep. It was a horrible sleep. But amazingly, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders today. Hopefully, I can sleep better tonight.
Kari's birthday was a blast :) I think she had a really great time. And I think she really liked her presents. Which is always awesome. It was one of the most fun birthdays...just being silly and not worrying about getting trashed...even if she was 21. We still had fun :) And on that note...time to get home to watch Will & Grace!!!!!
Until next time...
