The small people will often chatter and carry on with each other as we drive home each evening. This runs the gamut from friendly conversation to unhappy mutual wailing. One evening last week as we were driving, they got into a row. Rachel told Ryan quite loudly and forcefully to "Shut Up." He was reasonably miffed and appealed to Mommy "Rachel Told Me to Shut Uu-Up!" I told Rachel to say sorry or we'd have to go to the Naughty Chair when we got home. This went around and around for a while and Rachel finally peeped out a Sorry and Ryan said sorry for yelling. Silence fell. A minute later, I distinctly heard Ryan whisper to Rachel "Say Shut Up!" No one got dessert that evening.
More on the weekend behind the
cut.
We'd had high hopes of making it to the opening weekend of the Ga. Renaissance Faire, but the weather wanted nothing to do with our plans. Saturday was grey and yucky, ugly storms rolled in late that night, and Sunday, was grey and yucky with an additional dose of cold, wet, and windy. New plan: Try again this weekend!
Since we weren't going out, we invited
heathrow and family to come over for dinner. We let the children run around and have fun (aka tire each other out) and had a very pleasant evening. They were all getting rowdy while we grown ups finished eating, so were shamelessly bought off with Ryan's new Diego's Dinosaur Rescue DVD. Our guests headed home before the storms got bad, leaving us with some home baked cookies and tired toddlers. It was nice to have someone to chat about both Lost and toddlers for the evening.
So Rachel, in her charming, sweet, and innocent way has now made it hard for me to wipe out Ogres in Warcraft. She was sitting on my lap Sunday watching me play. I was dispatching some ogres for fun and faction. They come in two basic sizes: Smaller magic user types and big melee brute types. I had a pair of them, one of each kind, and was methodically beating them down when she told me knowingly, while pointing to the big one "That's his Daddy!" Great, now I will feel vaguely guilty every time I mow down some Ogre's daddy ;-)
