I know I missed last week's, but it was relatively quiet so I didn't push very hard. I'm hoping by now people are seeing that it's really more like "Weekly" Bandom.

Things that aren't a secret: that I love roadtrip!fic, that I love Spencer and Brendon and angst, and that I love Laura's writing. And this piece of writing... it is so much more than a sum of those parts. It is the kind of writing that subtly works its way into your heart, so by the time things start getting intense you feel it all the way through you. Reading this wrecked me, in the absolute best possible way.

The first BigBang to be recced here, though certainly not the last. Guys, this is epically wonderful. Hilarious, action-packed, tense, romantic... it seriously has everything. And then some. Go read it, for reals.
“Heads up,” Gabe announces when he steps onto the bridge. “William saw an octopus.”
“What kind of octopus?” Alex asks, already leaning over his console to do a search.
Gabe doesn’t actually know, come to think of it, but he’s fairly certain William wouldn’t either. “Eight legs, big head,” he says instead, coming over to where his XO Ryland is already drawing up an info sheet on their location and status.
“That helps,” Ryland tells him, swiveling the screen in his direction. “We’ll get that narrowed right down for you.”

I learned recently that The Hush Sound's "The Boys Are Too Refined" is referencing an ee cummings poem.
Video of Greta, along with Alex from Phantom Planet, singing about cereal. It's awesome.
Greta appeared on Spin's Book Club, and had this to say:
"This book was beautiful. Lately I've been daydreaming about living in the various imagined 'time worlds' described in this book… I'm in the world where time moves backwards- studying quietly in a classroom, then eating dinner with both of my parents (who at this time are married), then I'm ten years old and diving in the frigid lake at summer camp, my brother and I are running around in the sprinklers, soon I'm just a wee baby listening to my mom play Chopin etudes, and suddenly I disappear into nothing but a distant thought in my parents' minds. (This would be a funny system…wouldn't each life end with an orgasm?) I liked the constant divide Lightman makes between the people who live by time and the artists and dreamers who don't care for time. Romanticizing the idea of timelessness makes me feel much better about never knowing what day it is."
