Sorry this is late. Busy yesterday, plus computer troubles. Work today, plus more computer troubles. In the interest of not getting overly frustrated, and not wasting time that I really ought to spend packing, there is no image section this week. Everything of note is still linked, but in the last section instead.
I mispoke last week (obviously, as I'm posting now), sorry. It's this next week that I'm away. I'm going to be basically internet-less for about a week, which means that when I come home I am going to be super behind in all things bandom. I'm not sure whether or not I'll end up attempting to recap what all happened while I was away, but I'll probably try :D
Also, people posted a lot of fic this week. There are definitely more recs than usual. Just so you know.
untitled ficlet of angst by
foxxclubSpencer/Jon, pg-13.
It comes down to this: a sleepless night in a hotel room in Baltimore, a night spent not sharing a bed and not touching each other with careful, hot glances of fingertips on skin as they pretend to watch a movie, or talking about the show.
In the Sirocco by
sevenfistsSpencer/Brendon, r.
It'd been a while since I'd read a long non-AU, and even longer since I'd read one that hit me like this did. The characterizations feel real, feel honest, all the relationships rang true to me... I really loved it. Also, few writers really seem to touch on Brendon's relationship with the Church, and with God, so it was lovely to find someone writing it so well.
"Yeah, shut up," Ryan said, and kicked at Brendon as he shuffled toward the mini-fridge. "Hypnotize Spencer."
"My inner mind doesn't have any secrets," Spencer said.
Brendon stretched out alon the couch and made a grab for Spencer's kneecap. "Spence, come on, I bet you've got all kinds of secrets, I bet you've got way more secrets than Jon-"
Secret Cave by
sinsensegirl!Bert/Gerard, nc-17.
You know how sometimes you'll read genderswap and it feels like the author really thought about it, like they really took some time to figure out how that same person would be if they'd gone through their life as the other gender? Yeah, this is one of those. It doesn't read like Bert-with-tits, it reads as female Bert, and it's amazing. Also, Gerard feels spot-on to me.
The first time Gerard sees Bert, he sees her tits first.
Bedtime Stories for Grownups: How Patrick Gangbanged My Chemical Romance by
3jane.
MCR/Patrick (with Pete on the phone), nc-17.
The style is refreshing, the amount of love and care and trust is stunning... well worth reading, truly.
They have a day off. It's been ages. But then Mikey looks up from his Sidekick and says something about Fall Out Boy being in the next town, and hey, Patrick.
the way i see it #282 by
beingothrwrldlyAU. Jon/Spencer, (Brendon/Ryan), pg.
"Hey, hey, hey," Jon whispers into Spencer's ear one morning when it's raining. "What're your thoughts on babies?"

warning for fisting.
Cash Colligan is not having a good day.
blondiusmaximus posted the second chapter of The Adventures of Gerard: Boy Princess of the Ocean, and Frank: The Italian Gentleman's Son Who Loves Him!
Chapter Two: The Bubble Palace!!! GO READ IT AND GRIN AND LAUGH AND STUFF.
And, hand-in-hand with that:
maybe the sea by
stereomerryan (brendon, spencer, jon), from the same verse as the above-linked comic!
Ryan shifts his shoulder bag, still full of rolled up newspapers that are smudging ink everywhere, and shuffles even more slowly. Despite their proximity to the ocean, the early summer heat is already beginning to weave through the town, pushing out the last of the cool air from the night before. Ryan doesn’t think he’ll ever get used to the summers here but a little heat is no reason to forgo sartorial dignity, he thinks.
My Way Home Is Through You by
7irisFrank/Jamia/Mikey, nc-17.
I have a fierce love of well-written fic about breakdowns. I'm super picky and crtical about it, but when it works, it really works for me. And oh does this work. I love Jamia here, and I love the different ways people handle Mikey's leaving (this is set right after he left the Paramour), and there are little details that hit me right in the heart.
For the first week after Mikey leaves the Paramour, he doesn't answer his phone.
It's such a relief to be out of that fucking house. He feels like he can breathe again, and for the first day or two, he thinks maybe just being out of there is enough after all. But the sixth or seventh time he sends one of their calls to voicemail, stomach knotted up tight and unhappy, he knows he was right the first time, knows he needs help with this.
He still doesn't answer the phone, though.
Somewhere Under the Moon by
disarm_dSpencer/Brendon, nc-17.
Sleepy sex. Really well-written sleepy sex. And the way you know that she really got the tiredness down: I have been having a lot of sleep issues, and the night I read this right before bed I had barely any trouble falling asleep.
Spencer laces his fingers behind his back and arches, enjoying the pop pop pop as his spine cracks. He looks around the hotel room, rubbing his cheeks while he considers. He wants a shower, but he really just wants to get to sleep, and he hates going to bed with wet hair. Brendon's in the bathroom already, but Spencer doesn't hear the shower running.
More Happy Ever After by
disarm_dSpencer&Brendon, (Ryan&Jon), pg.
The thing is, right, Spencer probably is going to have to stop making bets with Ryan eventually.
Brendon says as much. "You need to stop making bets with Ryan," Brendon says, holding their egg up with his thumb and first finger and eyeing it.
stereomer posted an
UST meme! If nothing else, go read what
airgiodslv wrote, because it tugs at my heart in all the right ways.
Panic is MTV's Artist of the Week! You can read the MTV Buzzworthy Blog about it
here, as well as gaze at some wonderful new photos.
Because of being Artist of the Week, there were some bizarre
videos, which you can watch at that link either by downloading or via youtube. There's Spencer feeding Brendon cake, there's Jon and Ryan's song about the car breaking down... it's pretty glorious.
And then there's the um, documentary, "American Valley" that those clips are from! You can watch it on youtube in two parts:
part one and
part two, or you can download it
here. It's so amazing and ridiculous I don't even know what to say. Acoustic Pas De Cheval! Driving shenanigans! Strange desert shenanigans! ♥ ♥ ♥
Video of Brendon and Ryan talking about getting signed, and how it was "too easy".
Over at
patd,
nienna_of_arda uploaded
a rip of the Pretty. Odd. vinyl. The post is locked, so you have to join
patd to see it.
Scans and translation of a Swedish interview with Spencer and Brendon (which also has some fantastic photos). Worth noting:
1. Point out Sweden on this map over Europe!
Spencer immediately takes command while Brendon laughing sinks back in the couch with his hands over his head. "This is going to go bad." The drummer shows off a little by pointing out Germany, Ireland, Great Britain and then restricts himself to Scandinavia. In the end he chooses Finland! After a little smacking on the fingers, Spencer points right!
Even with no photo section, I have to draw attention to
this photo, which
shiola_shiola unearthed. Gloriously hi-res!
And, of couse, the Honda Civic Tour has begun! In my
recap post of the opening night I added links to some other people's videos and whatnot (well worth noting: the
rolling stone review, which has some wonderful photos both of them performing and hanging out in the greenroom). At some point relatively soon I'll be adding even more links. That's all the HCT recapping I can deal with right now. (If you want tons more photos and recaps, go look around over at
patd and
shiola_shiola.)
In case you missed it,
Pete and Ashlee are engaged, and
Patrick is happy because he'll get to wear a tux. And
Nick was proud of himself for keeping the secret.
FOB will be shooting a video for their cover of "Beat It", directed by Shane Drake. Naturally, Pete updated
meelikey.
On the set of the "Guilty Pleasure" video. It's like Shakespeare! Ryland whining "mo-om" at VickyT! Patrick dressed like a sleazy manager! It's fantastic.
Gabe wrote a
myspace blog about how he doesn't always suck at singing... just when he's on national tv. Oh Gabe.
Photos of Cobra Starship playing TRL during Prom Week.
Cab interview at Bamboozle Left.
Hush Sound interview (print).
The Hush Sound posted a
myspace blog before the start of the HCT:
hello folks... Bob here letting you know that we will have free Hush Sound balloons at our merch stand on this tour so definitely go check it out... you can do lots of fun stuff with balloons... like pretend your pregnant and stick it to your hair using static electricity... you can also see how many times you can hit chris while on stage. He is terrified of balloons... so lets make his life hell... and volleyball is fun with balloons too b/c it doesn't hurt your wrists... I can't wait to see you all and get pumped for phantom planet b/c they are amazing!
"Empires is making it official. Please welcome Al Smith into Empires." And over at
weareempires there are a few recaps of their latest concert, with some photos and video.
