let's talk about spencer smith.

Dec 30, 2007 20:35

daxius has not yet developed a Spencer thing, despite Panic's stealth seduction. So I'm helping it along. We'll see if it sticks, or if I will handle the Spencer squee in our late night IMs.

This is Spencer James Smith the Fifth, and his hips. And his girl clothes.

Spencer used to look like a girl. It was wonderful.

He has an absolutely gorgeous smile.

Really gorgeous.

I love the light on him here. And the curve of his torso.

He has a wonderful back.

And you know that from drumming he's probably really strong. Stronger than he looks.

Panic's drumline was an amazing thing, and I wish I could have seen it in person. My band geek heart swells with happiness when I see them with marching gear.

So yes, Spencer is a drummer.

Not as much of a baby-dyke as he used to be.

Because oh, how he used to be. (HIPS!)

Now he has a beard, which took some adjusting to. (HENLEY! Also, apparently that scarf is from the ladie's accessories area of H&M.)

The beard however does not change his pretty hair, or his adorableness.

Or how much he and the rest of the band gay it up for photoshoots. (Jon Walker's footwear choices are rubbing off on him, clearly.)

He wears plainer clothing now. But stylish plain clothing that looks really good on him. Like button-downs and henleys. I approve of this. I also approve of how content he, Jon, and Brendon look in this picture. Content, confident, gorgeous, et cetera. And please note the way Spencer and Jon's arms are right on top of one another.

On the subject of Jon, let's appreciate this photo. Note where Jon's hand is. Note the faces he and Spencer are making. Spencer's look may kind of scare me here, but it's worth it all the same. (Also, Ryan is gorgeous here, and wearing a henley, and pants that show things off. And Brendon is silly, but his skin looks kind of amazing, and he's wearing a button-down, and a big belt, and you can see part of his tattoo. GOOD THINGS.)

Jon and Spencer touch a lot, which is lovely. Spencer wore pink shirts back in the day. Also lovely.

Spencer and Brendon touch too (their ARMS!!!). Even though he no longer is rocking the lesbian look, Spencer reminds us that he still rocks the hip-cock. And the pretty hair. Ryan, on the other hand, is so blazed he's hardly there.

Big hugs at the VMAs. And not awkward boy-hugs, either. Full body, both-arms hugs.

Spencer and Brendon also pick up free swag together. This is a good time to mention how they both are a little obsessed with shoes (though Spencer's love of shoes, and shopping, is more talked about).

They all have sweepy hair here. Oh boys.

Lesbian phase! Plus that little strip of skin between shirt and pants that I definitely haven't stared at. Also, he and Brendon are both so pale here. (Red glasses cameo!)

So little! Spencer looks gorgeous, Brendon... has a lot of pattern going on.

More young Spencer. They never really had van days, thanks to getting signed by Pete so early on, but if they had van days, that's when this would be from.

Hot pink shirt! Ridiculous belt on the girlpants! Crazy shoes! Cocked hip! Slightly flushed! Tiniest bit of belly!

His shirt is so tight. I... appreciate it. And he looks like such a boy, somehow. I think it's the jaw.

Less like a boy, in his Pussycat Dolls hoodie and girljeans, with the hips (even if they aren't being played to maximum effect at the moment.)

He wore that hoodie all the time. But Brendon wants to one-up it with the pale pink one. THIS BAND, GUH. So ridiculous and wonderful.

Ridiculous and wonderful. Um. No comment. (NGH)

Spencer-smile! With the head-tilt that he seems to do a lot. Look how happy they all are here!

I love every photo in this shoot/series/whatever, I think. Autumn de Wilde went on tour with them for a few days to take pictures for Spin magazine. LOVE.

Lighting! Girlshirt! His shoulders look so much smaller than they do now.

This hair didn't always work for me, but... his hands!

However, when the haircut did this? SO MUCH LOVE. It's so sweepy. And I love their fallfashion phase, complete with scarfs and warmer hoodies/jackets. And yes, that's a rose like Ryan had all over everything for a while. This is one of my favorite Spencer pictures, actually. He looks so focused, and the angle does gorgeous things to him, and his eyelashes.

Another one of my favorites. Jon is responsible for this picture. The composition is gorgeous and Spencer is equally, if not more, gorgeous. In his hoodie with the princess sleeves, or whatever they're called. Something about him seems really unguarded here.

I realize this is mainly a picture of Jon, but let's take a moment. Jon is a photographer. A photographer who has training and clearly knows how to frame a picture (please to be seeing the above photo, omg). So it can't have been an accident or coincidence that Spencer's in the picture. Which is reason number 5631 why Jon Walker is wonderful. (Also, hello hands, hello. And hello rumpled hair.) I love that almost everyone in bandom has a Macbook.

Jon is also to thank for this picture, from their cabin days. I really do love the pictures like this, where they're just going about their day, and Jon (or Tom, or whoever else spends enough time around with their camera) take pictures. I'd imagine that Jon has the camera out enough that no one pays it too much attention anymore, not really. And when you reach that point, where people are totally comfortable? That's when a lot of really amazing pictures are taken. I love all the photos he took up at the cabin. (And remember when that was the extent of Spencer's facial hair? I'mcurious what Spencer would look like if he shaved now. Because he seems to have grown up a lot in the past few months - filled out and all. So it's not like it'd be a return of the pre-beard Spencer. Hmm.)

The picture that made me A-OK with the beard. Swoopy rumpled hair! Intense eyes! Henley + tux jacket! Hips! Hand! I am incapable of articulating my love of this ridiculously hot picture. And this ridiculously hot boy man.

After ending the picspam on such a wonderful note... videos!

Jon and Spencer are sexperts and it is ridiculous. Here's another. And another.

Possibly the best Panic! interview EVER. Featuring my favorite Brendon: fall fashion Brendon! Jon and Spencer share a mic! (This is not Spencer at his hottest, but he smiles and is a hilarious cutie, so it's important all the same.) There are so many hilarious little moments in this. (You smell good.)

Kerrang! podcast. Spencer smiles a lot! Spencer and Ryan bump fists. Brendon is amazing. Spencer wants Don Quixote in their video! And here we see how Spencer a lot of times handles the form-questions for the band. He handles a lot of the business stuff in general.

Spencer loves shoes! He gets this grin on his face where he's maybe a tiny bit embarassed about how excited he is to talk about his Air Force IIs. N'awww.

At Reading & Leads. Definitely aren't all sober. What cuties. Spencer is wearing the black button down that is delicious. The rest look good too.

Spencer dodges a bottle like a badass.

Spencer and Jon interview. Hey, speaking of the black button down... (doesnt quite fit Jon, now does it?)

Hey, wanna go smoke?

Spencer and Zack and ice.

Dean's List. Adorable, all of them. They kind of fail at these types of things. They talk about Pete, and everyone smiles and laughs a lot. <3

Spencer and Brendon interview. Spencer holds no punches, and crosses his legs like a lady. And smiles with the headtilt at Brendon.

Panic!'s full set at Weenie Roast. They all were looking quite good around this time - it's during that lovely phase where we had lesbian!Spencer and lesbian!Ryan simeltaneously, hooray! Spencer has pretty hair, and is wearing a button-down that tugs ever so slightly at the buttons round his middle. But most importantly? DRUMMING. And whoever filmed this was smart enough to know that there should be plenty of drumming footage \o/ It's... really really hot. DRUMMINGNGH.

Karma Police (from the Denver DVD). I know I already wrote extensively about this, but, um, DRUMMING. He twirls his stick, and then at 2:15 Spencer James Smith the Fifth has a fill that makes my heart explode with happiness.

Tonight, Tonight (from the Denver DVD). Already talked a lot about this as well, but let's just focus on Spencer for right now. On how he's a ridiculously talented drummer who does amazing things in this song. How he's a drummer who can do really impressive and complicated drumming, but who also knows when and how to pull back without leaving it sounding flat. How his hair is kind of a mess, and he gets this tiny hunch when he's really focusing. How his drums light up.

I Consantly Thank God For Esteban (from the Denver DVD). There are a lot of things to focus on in this song: Ryan's banjo, Ryan and Jon's transition to electric instruments midway, Brendon's whispering, Brendon's falsetto, etc. But the absolute best thing about this song for me? One Spencer Smith. Seriously, his part in this song is incredible. During the second verse you can hear very clearly how he was influenced by playing in marching band - all those rimshots! And no matter what he's playing, he's in motion. He's clearly in control, but he's also moving with the music.

In conclusion...

(from the FOB Q&A section)
Q: pete. brendon urie or ryan ross?
A: neither. im a spence kind of boy. definitely. cause then his name would be Spence Wentz
