Back Home Again...

Well, Mexico was.....Mexico. I got back home this morning at 3:30am. Had class this morning and it totally sucks. I'm taking American Government for my summer class and I think it's going to be yet again a lot of work. Who are these professors who don't give much work and give easy tests that I keep hearing about. I always end up with crazy psycho teachers. Maybe it's just me...who knows. Anyway, my prof. this morning had us do this crazy in class exercise where we had to go around the class meeting as many people as we could. Seems like there are a lot of nice people in my class. So, that's cool.

Back to Mexico.....let's see. It was really cold in the mountians got down to about 30 degrees at night. I was freezing. It was kind of scary up there too. I just don't really like being in the middle of nowhere. It's really nice to be able to know that there are other people around and just places to go for help if need be. I spent most of my time with some Tarahumara Indian kids. It was fun. I finally got them to start teaching me some new words in their language which is nothing like Spanish. It's so cool. I learned some stuff like Remi means beans, and Mani means tortillias. Kuida means hi and Chiminey wey means what is your name. I will tell you one thing, my English is really not so great right now...yes I said English. I always get like this. I basically spoke nothing but Spanish for three days straight and now I can't think in English correctly. I just get my words mixed up and use a lot of plurals when I don't need to. Steve totally took advantage of making fun of me for it, don't worry. But anyways, the kids were a lot of fun. something super cute happened yesterday. One of the little indian girls who I had never met came up to me which is huge because they are super shy but she came up to me and gave me a sucker! I asked her if it was for me and she said yes, that she wanted to share with me. I know that really doesn't seem like anything very big but you have to put yourself in that situation. I mean what an honor. She was giving me something that she had bought, with money that is so scarce there. For some reason she picked me to give her sucker to. I got tears in my eyes as she gave it to me. I stuck it in my pocket and she ended up being my friend for the day. Her name is Juana and she is adorable. It was funny because she was kind of my ticket to meeting the other kids. She was really outgoing and wanted to talk to me, she even asked me why my hair was blonde because she'd never met anyone with blonde hair....how cute is that? So, her curiosity in me brought other kids around and eventually I had a good sized group that I spent the day with. Talking, braiding hair, and playing games with. (I tried to teach them Double Double This This but they couldn't say the words and ended up laughing.) It was funny. By the end of the day I had a new group of friends. Before we left I pulled Juana aside and gave her back her sucker. I told her that she really meant a lot to me by just wanting to share something with me. I knew she really wanted that sucker though and that I was giving it to her! She was pretty happy about it, she got this huge smile on her face and took it out of my hand. It was a good day. Overall the trip was a lot better than I expected but I'm just tired. I'm emotionally tired.
