such a maine weekend--fantastic.
on saturday i woke up late, and mom and i made french toast, and then we went apple picking, and we went on the pumpkin hay ride to pick out pumpkins (i'm bringing some back to tufts!) and see the cows. then we went to the beach, and it was freezing, and we almost left right away, but then i wanted to take pictures of this old guy fishing, so we stayed for a bit. then we went to the market--one can't go to garden street without seeing someone she knows, of course...and then home to prepare for le birthday dinner at FORE STREET-yummmm.
then today i sat around and read in style and lucky (i miss those at tufts, so i had to catch up on the ones i've missed), and then we went kayaking and leaves were super pretty, and then i went to lindsay's crazy surprise party with the MOON BOUNCE (um amazing), and it was all juniors and seniors and they were very (pleasantly it seemed) surprised to see that i showed up, and i felt loved. then after the party broke up i had a little adventure with ted and victoria and cheryl and liz and zoë, and we brought ted's adorable puppy to the beach, and then she got cold and started trying to dig herself a hole, plus the tide was coming in, so we took her back to ted's. then we went to liz's and talked and ate italian ice. en route victoria commented on how she'd forgotten that the stoplights started flashing at eleven. i hadn't really forgotten, but it did take me a minute to remember. driving through intersections adorned with flashing lights instead of ones that change from green to yellow to red kind of makes being out after eleven seem like a special, peculiar, almost mischevious thing, and i like that. it's a very romanticized view, but it's also how i've always felt about them.
and tomorrow--who knows. but at some point i return to tufts

oh ps
i like college
in case i haven't talked to you.
fear not--i didn't have too much trouble adjusting (all those years of camp helped), and i'm having a lot of fun so far, and i'm learning a lot.
