Emerging from radio silence to express Supernatural squee. It's been a while since I've had anything to squee about, I've been so stressed with RL stuff, but I do manage to get online about once a week, and tonight I saw SPN 4.03.
JOHN. We got YOUNG JOHN!!!!
Okay, you have to understand how utterly unspoiled I was. I had no idea what the ep was about. I considered not bothering watching it, because I have a ton of school/house/family stuff that needs done, but I'm so glad I did.
JOHN and DEAN. In the diner, with the coffee, and the guy calling Winchester and I knew they'd both look over, I knew it.
And Dean, with his quiet gasped 'Dad'. I wanted to hug the boy. I wanted John to hug the boy. *breathes*
And then with Mary, the wonderfully awesome, kickass Mary who hates hunting (so that's who Sammy gets his sass from), who doesn't want her babies to grow up how she did. Oh, Mary. Oh, Dean, baby, with the tears running down your cheeks, because at least Mary had her Mom around. Oh,SHOW.
And Samuel. DUDE. Grandpa Sam. I ache for Dean and John and Sam here, because Samuel would have been such a font of knowledge. He could have helped them so much. SHOW, you tear out my heart and you wave it carelessly in front of my face.
Deanna, you were a darling. You met your namesake. Dean, you met your Grandma. *cries more*
I can't express how much I love this episode. I'm not going into the wonderful pulling together of all the loose threads we've picked at constantly in fics. I'm not going to bemoan the lack of Sam, because HELLO, JOHN!!!!!
I fell in love with innocent lovely John, even though it completely destroys a fic I've been writing, because he was just a sweet loving caring guy, and we all knew that.
Also, he called Samuel 'sir' - which is a small thing to most of you out there, but to me it's a huge character thing. A lot of people believe that John didn't have the boys call him sir until after the fire, that it was the whole training/hunting regime that was responsible for the sir thing. I've always believed it was a respect thing, and that one that he would have encouraged in Dean, even before the fire. A small thing, I know, but it means a lot to me.
This episode was not perfect though. Kripke did not time travel back to drag a young JDM into 2008 to play the part of young John. THAT would have been perfection.
*breathes again*
In other news, I'm enchanted by BBC's Merlin. Utterly. Is there any one else out there who thinks that Arthur (Bradley James) is possibly the long lost brother of Jensen Ackles?
For evidence, see BBC site
here I shall probably crawl back into radio silence again for a while, but this squee could not be repressed.
