So last night was my first experience doing something as a legal adult: I went out dancing in Ybor. And even though I kinda thought that I wouldn't like it, and that I would just get really tired and not have any fun...it was really great. I had a lot of fun, with Lisa, Sara, and Emily, and just dancing in general. Like, at the few (and I mean very few) parties I have been to with dancing, I'm always kinda like "ehhh...I'll dance..." and I have fun, but at a club everyone is dancing and you just don't care as much about how good you are or what you look like.
So here's a brief recap of the night:
We left Spring Hill about 10:30, and started the drive to Tampa. After making a pitstop at McDonalds (which took entirely too long, and involved us parking and having our food brought out to our car), we made it to Ybor and were ready to dance...but first we had to drive around all confused and figure out where to park. After the parking was successful, we grabbed some cash and our ID's and headed towards the Ampitheatre (the club destination). Walking down the street we passed Prana and some other club I think...and were accosted by all the club people trying to get us to go into their establishments. But finally we made it to the Ampitheatre...where Danny, Justin, Dan, and Susan just happened to be in line...which none of us suspected. We waited for a little on the line, but finally got in (no cover charge yay!) and started to dance. And for all of you who haven't been there yet, let me just say that it's pretty cool. It's got a revolving dance floor with this cool platform thing in the middle, and they randomly spray mist and fog and glitter and its quite exciting. We danced for almost like 2 hours I think, and took a break to get water ($5 a bottle...*shakes fist*), and we were just standing there, when some crazy girl came up to me and started like dancing on me...but it was my sister Amy! She came with her fiancee Josh, and 2 of their friends...and they came to tell us they could get us into Club Skye for free!
So we headed over there, waited a little while their friend worked some things out...and then we headed in, free of charge, totally into the VIP level...yeah you read right...VIP!! So we hung out up there, went down to dance a little, saw some cool black guys dance next to us, like showing off their moves (which was very cool), checked out the VIP veranda, and eventually headed out because it was really crowded and hot (where it took us like a long time to find the exit).
So we had like a half hour before we wanted to leave, and we were walking back to the Ampitheatre, and these 2 guys (who seemed gay...but we don't think were) asked us if they looked better with or without their glasses...and then they were saying weird stuff about how we were coordinated because we had on different outfits, and that we were like Sex in the City and Charlie's Angels...and they asked us to come with them to Prana...but we were like nooo, and they just walked away. And we're just about to head into the Ampitheatre when this really creepy oldish guy starts talking to us, asking if he could have a friendly dance...and we were like ehhh...and just walked into the club. We danced for a little bit, thinking we were safe...but then, out of no where appears...Mr. Dumpster! (which is what we later called this creepy guy, because he looked like some bum you would find in a dumpster in NY, which is where he was from). And his cousin and brother were kinda dancing with us...but he kept trying to dance with me and I kept moving more towards like Sara and Lisa...but he kept following...so we just left the club and headed home, because it was like 2:30 anyway.
We got home around 3:45, and though I smelled like smoke and was hot and sweaty, I was happy. All in all, it was a very fun night.
And wow...that recap wasn't brief at all.
