Looks like the truck crossing (Exit 275) is the way to go when crossing the border to and from Canada. Not as scenic as the Peace Arch, but the wait times are significantly less. And it made sense for my drive this Sunday because it connects to BC-15 which heads to the suburbs east of Vancouver, where my Aunt Susan lives.
I left Kirkland around noon and was at Aunt Susan’s a little after three. Her husband was there as well as their son Chris, both of whom I met at the family reunion in San Diego this summer. I met their daughter that day for the first time (her name escapes me at the moment). Very nice family. After chatting for an hour, we had an early dinner. I realized at this point that they were evangelical Christians when we all prayed before eating. Very sweet. (I made a mental note here to curb the blue humor. No bitch jokes tonight.) I brought with me my aunt’s camcorder which she accidentally left at my mom’s place in San Diego, and which my brother passed on to me when he and Anne came up to visit several weeks ago. So we watched footage of the reunion party that Chris shot, with me identifying people at the party. It was a very pleasant visit, and I really liked my cousins. Chris: "I traded my PS2 for an Xbox." I love you, man.
My Aunt wanted my to stay overnight, but I had work the next day, and I made a checkin into the source tree on Saturday night which had the potential of breaking the build; I wanted to be there early Monday if it did, to fix it. So I hit the road around seven. It was dark and raining and my eyes were tired from a late night Half-Life 2 marathon, but I got back home ok around ten. Slept like a log.
Monday rolled in, and no build breaks, yay!
