Disability Pension Increase.......It's around $100 bucks a fortnight as long as you ignore they've taken away our 3 monthly utilities allowance. There are probably other nasties lurking, but the upshot of it is - more money to live on for a single pesioner! (If you are a pensenioner couple it sux the big one - you get $10 extra each per fortnight.
What immiediately strikes me is that I can now buy Christmas presents for everyone. I've been scrappy over the last few years. I was good at handmaking stuff for everyone one year, for some people another year, last year nobody got anything (and this including birthdays)
I DO like to give presents!
Now I've got time, Etsy and a bit of cash (not too much, I'm not crazy) and all my IRL friends can expect an IRL present this year. I think that is just so wonderful! I get to be Santa tee-hee! And do lots of vicarious shopping on their behalf!
