I was going to write a long diatribe about how things have been going lately. It was to be some vapid piece on how life sucks and how I was being defiant but as I sat down to vent, I received this email. It was from "Hope" my recently departed apprentice:
Dear Dr. N. and Dr. L.,
I wanted to thank you both for my great learning experience at [name withheld] Hospital. You are excellent teachers and doctors! You both especially and all the other [group name withheld] were extremely good to me. I really miss doing my preceptorship with you both. Also, thank you so much for the send of [sic] lunch it was very thoughtful of you.
I have started my classes for the step 2 usmle exam and have already had to use what you taught me! I will always remember you both with gratitude.
Thank you once again.
Hope
Now that just warms my cockles! I am flattered and humbled. I can't whinny on anymore after that--how could I?!
Things are looking up, I must say. I parlayed the credit from the failed Seattle trip into a ticket to my one of my favorite places in the world: the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm going to visit my homeboy,
beetlejude and his wife. I haven't seen them since...before I moved to Colorado. It will be a good reunion and I'm looking forward to eating delicious things both familiar and new to me.
Also, my Rolodex is deeper than I thought and through the magic of MySpace (it is good for something after all!), I reconnected with an old acquaintance and we're going to see Massive Attack together. Yes, I've already seen them this year but the first show was so good, I wanted to see them again. They're touring with all of the original vocalists (save Tricky)--that's no easy feat!
Yep, life is grood now. It took a proverbial shit in my Cheerios, but I did what I do best: stir things up and make mud pies!
