[Camarilla] Awesome in a can!

Oct 18, 2009 11:15

So yesterday, in lieu of our regular third weekend Camarilla game (which is Changeling in the afternoon and Requiem in the evening), we did a charity troupe LARP that our DC had gotten permission, and had talked to, the ANC Charities in regards to. The LARP was a can donation event, with all the cans to be picked up by God's Pantry here in Lexington, KY.

Please note that this was outside our normal Camarilla continuity, for those who might think that something funky went on. :P The premise of the game was about a pharmaceutical company that had a number of clinical trials, and the side-effects from the clinical trials were giving a number of mortals psychic powers. This was being caused by a spirit of control, whose influence and energy caused chaos spirits to flock to nearby areas. Through a number of interesting events, four Kindred, a Banisher Awakened, a Changeling and two Werewolves eventually ended up on the premises of the place. The game was divided into two days; our afternoon game was day 1, and our evening game was day 2, split by a dinner break. Can donations would get you 15 XP per can, up to a maximum of 150 XP (though you could donate more cans). I helped run it as an ST.

Sadly, we only got 12 people. Including some of our normal players not showing. But those 12 people? They were some of the hardest-core people playing there, and it was awesome. Everyone was super-into the research and socialization portions of the first part of the game, and the second part of the game was a mixture of more research, and Silent Hill or Resident Evil-esque movements through a building that was, itself, part of a ritual to bring the spirit to this side. All of this culminated in some awesome events (vampires trying to hide from cultist security with IR goggles; one of the vampires getting ganked 3 times and becoming a vessel for the spirit; the second werewolf biting mutated cultists in HALF regularly). It culminated in a final battle with the CEO of the company, the man who was trying to bring the spirit into existence, and an epic fight with him. With one of the mortals dealing the final, killing blow to the guy after the ritual had been disrupted. :)

The best part, though? With those 12 people, and some donations from the D&D players that were at the same location that play as well, via advertising by the university where we lay, we got nearly 500 cans for the charity. Which I think is fucking awesome.

There was talk of doing another one of these charity LARPs for UKon in the spring, instead of a game set in our continuity. We'll have to see where that goes.
